Wellness Lab Co., Ltd. (Location: Naka Ward, Yokohama City, Kanagawa Prefecture / Main Brand Name: Kirei de Lab) held a small-group customer roundtable with long-time product users in anticipation of its 15th anniversary on July 1, 2026.
*Front row: Company employees / Back row: Participants
At this roundtable, we asked participants about their approaches to beauty and health, and what they feel now that they have aged.
Participants
As this was our first roundtable, we invited customers we had connected with through interviews and other means, who have been long-time users of our equol supplements and who could easily travel to our Yokohama venue.
Ms. O (50s)
Has been a loyal user of our products for over 12 years. Loved fortune-telling since childhood and is recently fascinated by otters.
Chikako (70s)
Values daily physical activity through caring for community cats and attending a fitness gym.
Ms. B (50s)
Has been a loyal user of our products for over 5 years. Watching late-night dramas is a time to center her mind.
AKKO (50s)
Considers work as a hobby and proactively takes on challenges such as riding large motorcycles and practicing Pilates.
Four employees, led by facilitator Ando, participated from our company.
Roundtable Begins with Greetings and a Toast
The roundtable started with greetings from our CEO, Noshiro.
He expressed his gratitude once again for their continued selection of our products over the years and for the warm feedback they have provided through interviews and other channels.
Following this, a toast was made, including the employees, and the main discussion topic began in a relaxed atmosphere.
Various topics unfolded regarding how to approach beauty and health information, daily physical care, and the positive changes felt now that we have aged.
What We Value for Informed Choices
The first topic was how to approach beauty and health information.
While the places where they encountered information varied, including social media, web searches, and official websites, a common thread among all participants was the desire to "make informed choices independently."
This led to a discussion about "what is important when choosing supplements."
Many participants mentioned referring not only to official websites but also to comparison sites, reviews, and articles by third parties when choosing beauty and health products.
Chikako shared that she created a comparison table to help her decide.
She meticulously checked and compared ingredients, prices, and the number of pills to take daily.
We also heard comments like, "There's too much information, and it's hard to know what to believe."
While reviews and comparison articles are helpful, looking at too many can make decision-making more difficult, so it's important to discern reliable information for oneself.
Regarding "trust," Ms. O shared an impressive story.
Ms. O has been a long-time user of our products, and the sense of security she felt with one product led to the belief that "other products from this company are also trustworthy."
We realized that trust in the company, built through past experiences, in addition to information about ingredients, price, and ease of continuation, can also be a factor in product selection.
Information Exchange Expands on Daily Body Maintenance
Next, the conversation expanded to the topic of daily body care routines.
AKKO mentioned that she continues with Pilates and dietary adjustments to enjoy activities like riding her large motorcycle and pursuing her interests.
Regarding her diet, she explained that instead of strictly cutting out rice, she incorporates brown rice and pays attention to eating times, adjusting in a way that suits her.
B expressed interest in squats but found it "difficult to maintain balance" when actually trying them.
In response, Chikako shared insights on exercises that can be incorporated more easily, such as half-squats using a chair.
Participants reacted to each other's comments with phrases like, "That's a good idea," and "I want to try that too," creating a natural exchange of information about body care.
Exercise, diet, daily activities, nutritional awareness – the methods vary for each person. From everyone's stories, we gathered that the approach is not about perfectly adhering to special routines, but about engaging with one's body in a way that fits their current lifestyle.
What Has Become Visible Now That We've Aged
As the final theme, we asked about "aspects of yourself now that you feel are better than your past self."
On this theme, deep conversations naturally unfolded regarding how participants view aging and how their perspectives have changed through their experiences.
Leeway and Freedom Born from Accumulated Experience
AKKO explained that the reason she feels her current self is better is "the leeway that comes from having experienced various things."
She mentioned that she had thought about returning to her past self, but if she went back, she might not be able to meet her current children and loved ones. Considering this, she no longer believes that returning to the past is necessarily better.
"Now, I can truly do what I want, what I like, freely. Of course, I might not be able to do everything."
When considering her past experiences, her current family, and the choices she has made, "I really think my current self is better."
AKKO accepts aging positively, not negatively. Her words, "I focus on what I want to do rather than spending time on things I can't change," convey a forward-looking attitude of enjoying the present while fully embracing her age and experiences.
Becoming Able to Focus on My Body and Mind
B's story began with the powerful statement, "I can definitively say that now is better."
One reason she can affirm her current self is that she has become able to think about things more constructively than before.
For B, people she finds "beautiful" are not just those with attractive appearances, but those who are healthy and cherish themselves.
She feels that behind this is "knowing oneself" and "loving oneself."
B herself is definitely feeling changes.
Instead of letting her thoughts be consumed by what others are doing or what she cannot do, she has become able to focus on how she feels and the state of her body.
She mentioned that these changes are also reflected in her posture and how she uses her body.
She also said that as she consciously tries to align her body, "Oh, it's looking good without me even realizing it."
She can adjust herself now because she concentrates more on herself than in the past and knows herself better.
B's words, "I can love my current self," convey the change of being able to face herself more positively than in the past.
Now, I Can Recognize the Importance of Time
Chikako stated that now that she has aged, she has become more conscious of "healthy life expectancy" and time spent with loved ones.
"It's important to be able to walk to the places I want to go, on my own."
While she didn't think much about it before, Chikako now values "going to the places I want to go while I'm healthy."
Having spent her life primarily focused on work and raising children, now that her children are independent, she wants to cherish time with her husband.
She shared a lovely anecdote about recently going on a bus tour with her husband for the first time in decades.
"When my life ends, I can't take money or property with me. I can only take memories and the bond between us."
Her words convey the sentiment of wanting to cherish "limited time," something she couldn't easily focus on before, now that she is older.
Now, I have a clearer idea of what is important.
This may also be one of the reasons why Chikako feels "my current self is better."
I Can Accept Myself Without Comparing Myself to Others
What was impressive about Ms. O's story was that as she aged, she "became aware of my strengths and weaknesses."
She said that she no longer feels the need to worry too much about others or compare herself to them.
Instead of forcing herself to handle things she's not good at, she can leave them to those who are, and focus on "what she likes and is good at." This realization has made her feel much more at ease.
"Being able to accept things as they are is important. It truly makes life easier."
Her words carry a relaxed brightness that comes from being able to accept her own strengths and weaknesses.
Furthermore, Ms. O mentioned that through her experiences, she has learned not to expect too much from people and to accept them as they are: "That person is that kind of person."
She has gradually come to understand herself and her relationships with others. Ms. O's story made us realize that there are things that become visible as one ages.
What was common in everyone's stories was that they are positively accepting what has become visible to them now that they have aged.
The leeway born from experience, attention to one's own body and mind, time with loved ones, and the ability to accept oneself without comparison.
These realizations seem to have led to their statements of "my current self is better."
After the Roundtable
In a post-roundtable survey, participants shared feedback such as, "I was happy to exchange information with others," "I enjoyed interacting with the employees," and "My familiarity with the company has deepened."
Meeting directly with customers who have been long-time users of our products and hearing about their daily lives and approaches to beauty and health was an invaluable opportunity for us as well.
