Starting May 30th (Saturday), we will be holding a solo exhibition at CIBONE (Omotesando) for Toru Hatta, a ceramic artist based in Osaka.
*Admission and purchases on May 30th (Sat) and May 31st (Sun) are limited to invited guests and those who have won the prior lottery. General admission begins on June 1st (Mon).
This exhibition is the final chapter of the "Hatta Toru Solo Exhibition World Tour 2025-26," which began in March 2025 at CIBONE O’TE (Brooklyn). A collection of works that have toured seven countries and gained high acclaim both in Japan and overseas will gather in Omotesando.
White-dipped pot (Shirokake Pot) - 33,000 yen (tax included)
Based in Osaka, the artist explores the possibilities of clay, creating earthenware that fits the modern dining table, such as white-dipped (Shirokake), black-dipped (Kurokake), natural glaze, and Mishima techniques.
Born from an enormous process that includes firing an anagama kiln almost every month for over 20 years, turning the potter's wheel, building kilns, adding firewood, and watching the fire, these works possess a complex, deep expression shaped by earth and flame, and emanate a powerful presence reminiscent of natural scenery.
Clay Lotus (Torenge) - 3,960 yen (tax included)
At the venue, approximately 500 works selected by Hatta himself for the tour finale will be on display and for sale. In addition to his signature white-dipped vessels, his powerful "torn jars" (Yabure-tsubo) and new "Clay Lotus" (Torenge) works will be showcased for the first time.
Please come and see the path of Mr. Hatta, who has been facing fire and earth for over 20 years, and the powerful world of works created from that accumulation.
