Well-i Inc. (Headquarters: Shinagawa-ku, Tokyo; President: Rintaro Hayashi; hereinafter "Well-i") has entered into a comprehensive partnership agreement with Fuminori Katsukawa, Professor Emeritus at Keio University and a researcher specializing in lifestyle diseases and medical data analysis, effective July 1, 2026. Professor Katsukawa also serves as an expert in business evaluation and verification for the data health plans of local government employee mutual aid associations.

This agreement aims to promote the data health plans of designated city employee mutual aid associations, municipal employee mutual aid associations, and city employee mutual aid associations (hereinafter "Local Government Employee Mutual Aid Associations (Municipalities)"), which are established based on the Local Government Employee Mutual Aid Association Act (Law No. 152 of 1962). This initiative will integrate public health academic research with practical data analysis, contributing to the advancement of data health plans for insurers such as Local Government Employee Mutual Aid Associations (Municipalities) to promote health and optimize medical expenses.

Background of the Agreement

Amidst rising medical costs and the spread of lifestyle diseases as societal challenges, there is a growing demand for the advancement of data health plans utilizing data such as medical claims and specific health checkups. However, many associations currently face challenges in advanced analysis, application to policy measures, and academic validation.

Through this collaboration, we will address these challenges by combining academic knowledge with analysis based on real-world data, promoting initiatives with a view toward practical application.

Objectives of the Agreement

This agreement aims to achieve the following by integrating Professor Katsukawa's clinical and public health knowledge with our company's data analysis capabilities:

Maintenance and promotion of health for insurers such as Local Government Employee Mutual Aid Associations (Municipalities)

Optimization of medical expenses

Advancement of data health policies based on scientific evidence

Development of academic research and acceleration of social implementation

A medical doctor specializing in internal medicine (endocrinology and metabolism) and sports medicine.

After graduating from Keio University School of Medicine in 1985, he engaged in research and education at the Department of Internal Medicine and the Center for Sports Medicine at the same university. He served as Associate Professor and Deputy Director of the Center, then as Professor from 2011 and Director from 2016, becoming Professor Emeritus in 2024.

His research focuses on lifestyle diseases, obesity, diabetes, and medical cost analysis.
