Overview of the Agreement

The purpose of this agreement is for the Koshu City Board of Education and the Company to cooperate with each other in Koshu City Municipal Schools to create opportunities to learn about environmental issues such as the reduction of plastic waste and global warming, and to contribute to the maintenance and improvement of the health of children and students, including heatstroke countermeasures.

Furthermore, we will enhance environmental education and learning opportunities for children and students, promote initiatives aimed at achieving SDGs, and develop activities that promote the spread of personal water bottles and foster environmental awareness for future generations, thereby contributing to the further promotion of SDGs education in schools and the health development of children and students.

Comment from Toshihiko Kobayashi, Superintendent of Koshu City Board of Education

Koshu City has signed an agreement with Water Stand Co., Ltd. for the "Promotion of SDGs Education and Heatstroke Countermeasures." This is a very welcome development in promoting the "education aimed at realizing a sustainable circular society" advocated in the Koshu City Basic Plan for Educational Promotion.

While we have been promoting SDGs through initiatives such as charcoal production at Hishiyama Elementary School, we expect this agreement to further promote environmental education in elementary and junior high schools within the city.

In recent years, in addition to the nationwide trend of high temperatures, Koshu City's Katsunuma recorded 50 days of extreme heat with temperatures exceeding 35°C last year, making heatstroke countermeasures for children an urgent issue. We will establish and implement measures based on heatstroke prevention guidelines, but it has been difficult to replenish cold water in water bottles when they become empty with existing water dispensers.

Based on this agreement, the installation of Water Stand will enable students to refill their personal water bottles with cold water, greatly contributing to heatstroke prevention. It will also lead to the reduction of plastic waste and carbon dioxide emissions, strengthening environmental education and heatstroke countermeasures in an integrated manner, and deepening children's learning.

About Water Stand

The filtered water server "Water Stand" is favored for its convenience, providing delicious drinking water anytime without the need for bottles, and its eco-friendly water supply system that eliminates the need for transportation and disposable containers. It is supported by individuals, particularly families with young children, corporations working towards SDGs, and universities.

・Our initiatives to reduce disposable plastic bottles

Our company has set a mission to reduce 3 billion disposable plastic bottles and is promoting the "Bottle Free Project" with local governments and boards of education nationwide, including the Koshu City Board of Education. Our "Bottle Free Project" aims to develop water supply stands with low environmental impact utilizing accessible tap water and to promote the use of personal water bottles.

Through these activities, we aim to achieve both the mitigation of global warming by reducing disposable plastics and CO2 emissions, and adaptation to climate change through the prevention of heatstroke and other health benefits from hydration. We are calling for cooperation in these initiatives from various organizations and groups, and expanding similar efforts throughout Japan.
