Background to the Chaos Map Update and the Raising of the "Tax-Exempt Meal Assistance Limit to 7,500 Yen"

In recent years, the working environment has changed significantly, with the establishment of hybrid work combining remote work and office attendance, and a growing awareness of health management. Furthermore, due to the tax reform in April 2026, the income tax non-taxable limit for meal assistance provided by companies to employees has been significantly raised from 3,500 yen to 7,500 yen (excluding tax) per month, for the first time in 42 years since 1984.

Amid continuing price increases, this legal revision is a powerful measure that allows companies to achieve a real "increase in take-home pay" and "health promotion" for employees without increasing their tax burden. Consequently, corporate attention to various "company meal services" and "meal assistance services" is rapidly increasing.

In response to this, we have significantly replaced the services listed in the previously published chaos map, completely revised the categorization, and added the latest services, releasing it as a fully renewed version, so that companies can compare and consider services in the most appropriate way for their current needs.

[2026 Latest Edition] 6 Major Categories of Food Welfare Benefits

This chaos map classifies services into the following six categories according to corporate introduction objectives and office environment:

1. Face-to-face Sales Type Services that sell bento boxes in one space within the company. They handle everything from delivery and setup to sales and撤収 (removal). They are characterized by low initial costs and easy introduction. (Main service: Shashoku DELI)

2. Company Cafeteria Type Provides warm meals in a buffet style by setting up a dedicated space within the company. It can provide a highly satisfying lunch environment for employees. (Main services: BONDISH, aim service, COMPASS Group, Repast, Green House, etc.)

3. Delivery Type Services where employees order individually via smartphone, etc., and bento boxes are delivered to the office. This eliminates the burden on general affairs departments for consolidating orders. (Main services: Gochi Kuru Now, Tabereru, hOuR, Obento ne! tto, Shasho Club, etc.)

4. Installed Type (Stationary Type) A style where refrigerators and freezers are installed in the office, stocking side dishes and salads. 5. Meal Ticket Type (Meal Assistance) A system that allows employees to use city restaurants and convenience stores as their "company cafeteria" via a dedicated app or IC card. It provides fair welfare benefits even for remote workers. (Main services: Ticket Restaurant (Edenred), Dokodemo Shashoku, Machinaka Shashoku GoSmart, miive, etc.)
