Wacom Launches Advanced Rotation-Detecting Pen "Wacom Art Pen 2"

Wacom Co., Ltd. will release the "Wacom Art Pen 2," a pen with an advanced rotation detection function that enables more expressive operations for digital artists and creative professionals, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

### Enhanced Expressiveness with Rotation Detection

The first "Wacom Art Pen (KP-701E)," beloved by many creators, has been reborn as the "Wacom Art Pen 2," incorporating the latest pen technology while retaining its 360-degree rotation detection function. When combined with compatible brushes, pens, and cursors, it responds not only to pen pressure and tilt but also to the pen's rotation angle (when using compatible software). This allows users to freely change line thickness and nuance by altering the pen's orientation. It intuitively reproduces the sensation of drawing with analog art materials like paper and pen, such as changing the orientation of a flat brush, felt pen, calligraphy pen, or custom brush, in the digital realm.

### Smart Design

The "Wacom Art Pen 2" adopts Wacom's unique battery-free EMR technology and features three side switches. It enhances work efficiency and allows for smooth, uninterrupted creative work. With up to 8,192 levels of pressure sensitivity, it enables smooth and precise control, from delicate sketches to powerful strokes. The pen includes a holder inside that can store three replacement nibs, allowing for quick exchanges when needed.

### Diverse Drawing Experiences with Newly Developed Dedicated Nibs

Three types of nibs exclusively developed for the "Wacom Art Pen 2" are available: "Wacom Art Pen 2 Carbon Shaft POM Nib," "Wacom Art Pen 2 POM Nib," and "Wacom Art Pen 2 Felt Nib." Users can choose their preferred drawing feel from these three different types.

### Compatible Models

The "Wacom Art Pen 2" is compatible with the "Wacom MovinkPad Pro 14" released in 2025, "Wacom® Intuos® Pro (PTK470／PTK670／PTK870)," "Wacom® Cintiq® 16 (DTK168)," "Wacom Cintiq 24 (DTK246)," and "Wacom Cintiq 24 touch (DTH246)." Additionally, compatibility for "Wacom Cintiq Pro (DTH172／DTH227／DTH271)" is planned for within 2026.
