The work that captures Ryuichi Sakamoto's piano performance three-dimensionally and reconstructs it in a Mixed Reality (MR) space, 'Ryuichi Sakamoto & Tin Drum | KAGAMI+', will be staged for the first time in Japan.

This performance will be held from Saturday, June 27, 2026, to Monday, October 12 (holiday), at the cultural facility 'VS.' in Umekita, Osaka. Today, tickets go on sale, and the full details of the Japan performance are revealed.

'KAGAMI' is a project conceived and produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto and Tin Drum, led by Todd Eckert, over the last four years of Sakamoto's life. Since its world premiere at The Shed in New York in 2023, it has been staged in various locations worldwide, including London, Manchester, Taipei, Singapore, Melbourne, Italy, and Hong Kong, receiving great acclaim. In this work, viewers wear transparent headsets and experience Ryuichi Sakamoto's figure, recreated with unique three-dimensional video technology. His performance at the grand piano, accompanied by fantastical 3D visuals that resonate with the music, emerges in space, allowing viewers to face the performance at a distance impossible in a real concert.

Furthermore, at the venue, in addition to videos, photos, and text, a scent blended by Sakamoto himself fills the space, designed to open up a multi-layered sensory experience.

The British newspaper The Guardian praised this work as a 'magical experience.'

For this Japan performance, an expanded special version, 'KAGAMI+', will be unveiled.

This performance offers two types of tickets: RED and BLUE. Those who purchase a RED TICKET will receive a 7-inch analog record titled 'An edition for the KAGAMI+ RED 2026' as a special gift. Student discounts are also available for BLUE tickets.

In addition to the main 'KAGAMI' program, visitors can simultaneously view exhibition works that allow them to experience Ryuichi Sakamoto's music from multiple angles, such as Ryuichi Sakamoto + Shiro Takatani 'TIME, TIME', Ryuichi Sakamoto: Playing the Piano 2026 - D, and new sound installations.
