Background of Implementation at Sophia University

Sophia University is an international institution with a large number of foreign students and faculty members whose native language is not Japanese. Three Use Cases

'TranSpeech' was utilized at Sophia University during the following three major events:

1. Video Contest Award Ceremony 'Sustainability Through Your Lens' hosted by the Office of Diversity and Sustainability Used during the award ceremony of the video contest. In the presence of multinational participants, including award winners, sponsoring companies, and students, the host's Japanese was projected on the screen in English, while the winners' English speeches were projected in Japanese. The real-time translation display created a space where all participants could share the experience.

'FD Training Session for New Faculty Members' hosted by the Center for Curriculum Development and Academic Feedback At the training session venue for new faculty members Used in a face-to-face training session attended by approximately 50 faculty and staff members to strengthen the faculty support system. The contents of the Japanese lectures were displayed in real-time English subtitles. The center plans to use 'TranSpeech' a total of three times during fiscal year 2026.

3. 'Corporate Briefing' by the Corporate Planning Group Used during a briefing session to widely inform faculty and staff about the corporation's management policies and business outlines. By displaying English translations of Japanese explanations containing specialized content in real time, the solution contributed to improving understanding and eliminating information gaps among participants.
