Kaze no Heritage Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture; Representative Director: Jun Tarikino) will start accepting reservations on Thursday, June 4, 2026, for accommodation plans and retreat experiences offered at 'Kaze no Kurayoshi,' a lodging facility that preserves and utilizes the Tottori Prefecture designated protected cultural property 'Ogawa Family Residence' and the nationally registered tangible cultural property 'Former Takata Family Residence,' scheduled to grand open on Friday, July 17, 2026. The program is themed 'A Retreat Journey that Blows Through the Five Senses,' offering a stay where guests encounter the landscapes, customs, atmospheres, flavors, and seasonal features scattered throughout the region while rediscovering their own senses.

'Kaze no Kurayoshi' is the first facility of the 'Kaze no' series under the new hotel brand series Kazeno Heritage. It is developed as a distributed heritage retreat that curates the townscape of red-tiled roofs and white-walled earthen storehouses, Tottori's folk crafts, Mount Mitoku, hot springs, satoyama nature, food, and interactions with people into a stay experience, allowing guests to enjoy the entire region. The sales launched this time are for programs themed 'A Retreat Journey that Blows Through the Five Senses.' It proposes a stay that is not just a place to sleep, but a journey through the nature, history, culture, prayers, crafts, and food scattered across the town and surrounding areas, helping guests rediscover their own senses.

Four Retreat Journeys that Blow Through the Five Senses

The accommodation plans and retreat experiences for which reservations are now being accepted curate the culture, nature, prayers, and crafts spread across Kurayoshi and central Tottori Prefecture into four retreat themes.

1. Abandoned Railway Line Meditation & Walking / Deep Breath Retreat Stay
'Walk the silence of the bamboo forest railway ruins and tunnels to heal.'
This program allows guests to leave the hustle and bustle of the city and the endless noise of information, surrendering to deep silence. The meditation experience takes place on the abandoned 'Former Japanese National Railways Kurayoshi Line,' now being swallowed by a bamboo forest, led by a monk from 'Shukubo Jizoin (Kurayoshi City).' After meditation, guests walk in the quiet space deep within a tunnel, where light and sound are blocked. They stop their thoughts and slowly deepen their shallow breathing. By the shores of Oyama-ike Pond, with its beautiful water ripples, guests enjoy a sense of oneness where the boundary between themselves and the surrounding scenery blurs, experiencing a feeling of liberation that clears the depths of their mind and body. Through the simple acts of walking, breathing, and resting, guests recalibrate their mental and physical rhythms.

This program allows guests to leave the multitasking of daily life and immerse themselves in the handcrafts of Kurayoshi. Tottori, known as the 'Holy Land of Mingei,' still breathes with folk crafts imbued with healthy 'beauty in utility.' In this plan, guests can choose an experience that resonates with their senses from among Kurayoshi Kasuri, blacksmithing, and pottery. Diving into the embrace of tradition, where the artisan's aesthetic resides, and facing materials mindlessly leads to a 'flow experience' that clears distractions and carefully reweaves oneself.

This program focuses on a pilgrimage hike to the National Treasure Nageiredo at 'Mount Mitoku Sanbutsuji,' a Japan Heritage site, to sharpen the body and senses. Crossing the rugged rocky terrain of Mount Mitoku, where ascetic monks once pushed themselves, with a guide, is an ultimate dynamic meditation that sheds the noise of daily life and immerses oneself in the present moment. The sight of Nageiredo appearing after overcoming the steep cliffs evokes not only a sense of accomplishment but also intellectual curiosity and deep awe. After the hike, guests slowly calm their sharpened bodies in the tranquility of hot springs or watersides.
