Venex Co., Ltd. (Location: Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Representative Director: Taichi Nakamura, hereinafter 'the Company'), which develops services and products related to recovery, is holding the 'VENEX POPUP STORE NEWoMan Yokohama' for a limited time from Thursday, May 28, 2026 to Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

On the first day, Thursday, May 28, a special talk event was held featuring Mr. Hasen Kuniyama, Representative of FOX UNION, former TBS announcer, and PIVOT MC, along with the Company's Director and COO Nobuyuki Hishinuma.

Mr. Kuniyama, who started a business in the United States in 2025 and currently lives a two-base life between San Francisco and Tokyo while continuously disseminating information globally, spoke about his daily recovery routines and the positive impact of 'aggressive rest' on business scenes and daily communication, offering tips for maximizing daily performance.

On the same day, the Company's Director and COO Nobuyuki Hishinuma also took the stage to explain the concept of 'Restology' that VENEX values, the effects of the patented, independently developed material 'PHT fiber', and the features and mechanisms of VENEX's recovery wear.

'Are Japanese people bad at resting?' Discussing the difficulty of rest with Mr. Kuniyama

Mr. Kuniyama, who is extremely busy frequently traveling between Japan and the US after starting a business in America, expressed the difficulty of rest based on his own experience, saying, 'While I recognize the importance of switching on and off, if I don't consciously think about resting, I end up cramming in work.' He reflected that during his time as a company employee, he thought, 'If I have time to rest, I should work,' but revealed a change in awareness, stating, 'Now I think about how to rest both mentally and physically, and how that connects to performance.'

During the talk session, data from 'Japan's Fatigue Situation 2025' conducted jointly by Venex and the Japan Recovery Association was introduced, showing that approximately 80% of 100,000 respondents nationwide answered that they are 'tired,' and that Kanagawa Prefecture, the venue for this event, along with Tokyo, is an area where many people feel tired. Mr. Kuniyama shared his thoughts on the cause, saying, 'Major cities have high population density, and people are physically close to each other. Even if you're not aware of it, stress might be building up without you knowing.' Hishinuma also expressed his feelings, saying, 'For us, with our headquarters in Atsugi City, Kanagawa Prefecture is a very familiar place. We want to earnestly convey rest literacy to everyone from this region.'

Furthermore, Mr. Kuniyama introduced that he is conscious of rest tailored to himself, saying, 'It's not enough to just sleep; you need to think about how to improve its quality. And you need to understand what leads to recovery for you. In my case, 'creating time to do nothing' is one form of recovery.' Hishinuma agreed with this and explained the concept of high-quality 'aggressive rest,' stating, 'By incorporating methods other than sleep, taking rest that suits you, and charging your 'vitality' to the max, it not only helps you recover from fatigue but also improves your performance and quality of life.' After Hishinuma's explanation, Mr. Kuniyama joked, 'My understanding of 'vitality' has become clearer. I'm quite conscious now!' drawing laughter from the audience.

The value of 'rest that improves tomorrow's performance'

Regarding the relationship between rest and performance, Mr. Kuniyama confessed, 'When I was a company employee, I felt like I had to keep working to improve performance, but now it's completely the opposite. My thinking has become 'rest to improve performance.'' He currently secures rest time in his schedule and shared his experience, saying, 'I truly feel that recognizing the need for rest and scheduling it leads to health management, self-management, and ultimately performance improvement.' In response, Hishinuma explained the value of 'aggressive rest' advocated by Venex. He stated, 'By incorporating high-quality rest into your daily life, you can naturally bring out your current abilities and create even more positive outcomes. I think the best way to rest is not to turn negatives into zero, but to turn them into positives.'

Furthermore, Mr. Kuniyama revealed his thorough self-management to achieve 'aggressive rest,' saying, 'I score myself using wearable devices and apps, and I take data every day as if I'm conducting fixed-point observations of myself.' He emphasized its necessity, stating, 'It shows up in the numbers. Just knowing the difference between when you've rested properly and when you haven't makes a big difference.' From the perspective of 'Restology,' Hishinuma presented a multifaceted approach, explaining, 'There are seven types of rest, and sleep is one type called 'rest type.' Other types include 'exercise type,' 'nutrition type,' 'social type,' 'entertainment type,' 'creative/imaginative type,' and 'change type.' By incorporating the types that suit you, you can get proper rest.'

In response, Mr. Kuniyama pointed out, 'Proper rest techniques and restology are not taught in school, and it's been hard to get information on this until now. So we tend to just work and go about our days, but we need to actively update how we rest.' He called for the importance of incorporating rest time into schedules, saying, 'Everyone, write 'rest' in your planners and calendars!'

Expanding use cases for recovery wear

Mr. Kuniyama praised the standard series 'Standard Dry+', which he tried at home beforehand, saying, 'I really liked the stretchiness the moment I put it on. I'll take it on my business trip to the US next month. It's already a partner. It's become an essential item.' He also highly evaluated the comfort and functionality of the brand's top-tier series 'Platinum Merino Wool,' which he wore during the event, stating, 'Temperature control is important for me as I travel a lot, but the feel and texture of this fabric are incredibly comfortable. I could get on a plane like this, and I almost want to go home like this today.'

Regarding the technology supporting Venex's products, Mr. Kuniyama mentioned, 'There's a sense of trust in the technological prowess that has been addressing the importance of rest for 20 years.' In response, Hishinuma explained the company's unique 'PHT (Platinum Harmonized Technology) fiber' used in all products, saying, 'We nanoize minerals like platinum that support high-quality rest, knead them into the fiber itself, make yarn from that fiber, create fabric, and sew it.' Hishinuma further emphasized the brand's uncompromising commitment to quality, stating, 'Not only the functionality, but also the manufacturing of the fiber and fabric, and the sewing, are all done in Japan, and we are very particular about the feel against the skin and comfort.' He also introduced a customer's comment who said, 'I can't relax unless I change clothes when I get home' due to the comfort of the material.
