Since its release in November 2024, "okuROOM®" has been continually enhanced with features reflecting user feedback. To commemorate reaching 1 million downloads, we are introducing the latest updates that merge online and offline (OMO), including a function to directly place furniture from e-commerce purchase history and a function to instantly link to simulations from in-store price cards (QR codes).

In addition, the user-participation event "okuROOM Championship," which was highly popular last year, is also scheduled to be held this year. Please see below for details.

What is "okuROOM®," the next-generation app that makes your ideal room a reality?

"LOWYA" has expanded its business primarily through its e-commerce site and has grown into one of Japan's top interior brands. Since 2023, it has fully launched the nationwide expansion of its physical stores, currently operating a total of 15 stores (*), and is pursuing a customer experience that spans online and offline.

Based on this expertise, after 12 years of conceptualization, the company released "okuROOM®," its self-developed 3D furniture placement simulation app, in November 2024, as a new standard for interior experiences.

Following the release of the Android version in May 2025, the app has now surpassed 1 million cumulative downloads approximately 1 year and 5 months after the service launch.

"okuROOM®" is characterized by its ability to generate an infinite number of coordinated layouts tailored to preferences by simply inputting room dimensions and budget, even without specialized knowledge. After simulating the ideal layout, users can smoothly purchase products from the LOWYA e-commerce site, achieving an intuitive UI/UX.

Immediately after its iOS release, it was downloaded at a speed far exceeding expectations, ranking 1st in the App Store's lifestyle category and 5th overall. It also became a hot topic on social media with comments like "This app is amazing," and under the hashtag "#okuROOM," many users shared their carefully coordinated layouts.

Furthermore, in response to numerous requests for its use in creating backgrounds for manga and illustrations, a new "Secondary Use Guidelines" has been established. Currently, individuals and corporations alike can post and utilize creations on SNS, etc., with proper credit, expanding its scope beyond interior enthusiasts.

Two New Features Accelerating "OMO Experience" Connecting Physical Stores and EC

"okuROOM®" has continuously pursued user convenience, with practical updates such as "polygonal room creation," "lock function" to fix placement, and "furniture fit function" to align furniture seamlessly.

Here, we introduce two latest features released in April that seamlessly connect the physical store and EC experience.

[1] One-tap placement of "owned furniture" from purchase history

Users can now directly call up existing LOWYA furniture from their LOWYA official website purchase history into the app's room and place it.

This makes it easier and more accurate than ever to simulate new items combined with furniture currently cherished in the user's home.

[2] "Try placing" items in the room on the spot by scanning QR codes on in-store POPs

By simply scanning the QR code on the price card (POP) in a physical store, users can instantly bring up the product in front of them into okuROOM.

This allows users to immediately simulate and resolve concerns such as "Will this furniture I'm looking at in the store fit in my home space?" or "Will it match my current LOWYA furniture?"
