Valeo to Provide Advanced ADAS to a Major Indian Automaker

A cost-optimized and scalable ADAS solution, the 'VSS360 system,' will be manufactured in Sanand, Gujarat, India.

This version, specially designed for the Indian market, is equipped with key safety features such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and driver drowsiness and attention warning.

Valeo, a global leader in automotive technology, has announced a significant step forward with the adoption of its Valeo Smart Safety 360 (VSS360) system by one of India's leading OEMs. This system will provide advanced driver-assistance features for commercial vehicles. This new version of VSS360 is specially designed for the Indian market and will be manufactured at its state-of-the-art plant in Sanand, Gujarat.

VSS360 is designed to address India's mobility challenges, including unpredictable traffic conditions.

This 'one-stop-shop' ADAS system offers a robust set of safety and comfort features, including a Moving Off Information System to protect pedestrians and cyclists when starting, and a Blind Spot Information System that monitors critical side zones for vulnerable road users. It also includes key ADAS functions like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane departure warning.

Furthermore, the system enables seamless software updates via over-the-air (OTA) updates to maintain optimal performance throughout the vehicle's lifecycle. Our system also includes driver drowsiness and attention warning software that actively monitors the driver's attention level to reduce the risk of fatigue-related accidents.

Valeo Smart Safety 360 is a cost-optimized ADAS solution that delivers best-in-class driving performance in a scalable one-box ADAS solution where radar fusion is integrated into the smart front camera. By eliminating a separate electronic control unit (ECU), OEMs can optimize cost and efficiency while easily integrating it into existing vehicle architectures.

Developed for a major Indian OEM, this system is customized for the Indian market. It complies with upcoming General Safety Regulations (GSR), including the reduction of road accidents due to driver fatigue. Developed, manufactured, and integrated by Valeo, it utilizes three radars and one camera with state-of-the-art computer vision technology to ensure optimal performance and system reliability.

A major advantage of this system is its 'Univolt' camera, which operates on both 12V and 24V architectures. This allows the technology to be deployed across all segments of commercial vehicles, from light commercial vehicles (LCVs) to heavy-duty trucks.
