On Saturday, June 6, 2026, Universal Studios Japan (USJ) hosted its 18th annual charity dinner show, 'Universal Wonder Night,' as part of its 25th-anniversary celebrations to express gratitude for the support received over the years. This event, which brings together park characters and partners, was launched in 2008 to support the development of local communities and assist those in need.
Proceeds from the dinner show, combined with contributions from 36 corporate sponsors and a matching gift from USJ, raised 22 million yen. This fund will support 18 million yen toward the 'Osaka Prefecture Ikueikai USJ Scholarship' and the donation of a welfare vehicle (worth approximately 4 million yen) decorated with park characters to a local welfare organization (specified this year as NPO Shisei).
Approximately 400 representatives from corporate sponsors attended the event. Activities included a charity silent auction hosted by character 'Ayakoji Reika' and 'Deacon' from WaterWorld, as well as a donation ceremony attended by Osaka Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura. Governor Yoshimura expressed his gratitude, noting that since 2009, 197 high school students have received scholarships through these donations, with many now pursuing their dreams in various fields.
Takashi Murayama, President of Universal Studios Japan, declared the company's commitment to continue contributing to society, stating, 'We are grateful for the support that has allowed us to reach our 18th charity event and our 25th anniversary. We will continue to boost tourism in Osaka, Kansai, and Japan through the power of entertainment, while striving to create a future where children can live with smiles.'
To mark the 25th anniversary, park favorites including Woody Woodpecker, Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Hello Kitty, and Daniel welcomed guests. Attendees were also served a special, one-night-only dinner course created to commemorate the milestone.
