URBAN RESEARCH KYOTO, the flagship store of URBAN RESEARCH, will host a solo exhibition "ROAST BEEF" by contemporary artist Haruto Tsuda, who has garnered attention for his unique style, from Friday, May 29, 2026, to Sunday, June 7, 2026.

STATEMENT

I traveled across America for two months with another person.
Spending such a long time together, the objective self that the other person perceived began to intrude into my subjective self, and I continued to endlessly confront my original ego even after returning home.
Exhausted by the long confrontation (BEEF) that felt already burnt (ROAST), I decided to depict this confrontation as a work of art, and by entrusting the outcome to the viewers, I aimed to disperse the intensity.
Furthermore, while I usually depict others from my own perspective, this exhibition is also a new attempt to reverse that viewpoint.

How am I seen?
Behind actions that are supposed to be natural, another self is concerned about it.
The subjective self, and the self that emerges through the gaze of others.
Both certainly exist, yet they never completely overlap.
—That slight discrepancy continued to linger within him even after returning home.

Until now, Mr. Tsuda has depicted others from his own perspective.
In this exhibition, he reverses that viewpoint, starting from "the self that is seen," and re-explores the contours of his own identity.

Works created with Haruto Tsuda's unique color palette and free lines will be displayed at URBAN RESEARCH KYOTO.

In addition to the exhibition and sale of artworks, we have also prepared exhibition-limited items that allow you to incorporate his worldview into your daily life.

As special order items created in collaboration with buyer Koyama, who has a close personal relationship with the artist, hand towels and caps will be available. This lineup is easy to incorporate into the upcoming season, allowing you to feel the charm of the works more closely.

Furthermore, a reception will be held on the opening day, Friday, May 29, which anyone can freely attend.
You can enjoy free drinks, and attendees will receive a limited edition can badge on a first-come, first-served basis.

This will be a 10-day period where you can directly experience what artist Haruto Tsuda feels and depicts at this very moment. We sincerely look forward to your visit.
