Unity [NYSE:U], a leading global game engine, announced the release of its in-app purchase SDK, Unity IAP 5.4. Unity IAP 5.4 significantly expands the existing in-app purchase SDK by newly integrating Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) commerce features, allowing game developers to conduct direct transactions with players, in addition to traditional in-app purchases on native stores (Apple/Google).
No-Code D2C Web Shop Construction
KEY FIGURES
With Unity IAP 5.4, brand websites can be created with just a few clicks from the Unity dashboard. No engineering effort or code changes are required, and it automatically synchronizes with the game's item catalog. Developers can immediately open their own sales channels that bypass app stores.
Integration with Third-Party Payment Providers
It supports third-party payment providers such as Stripe and Coda, allowing payments to be processed without going through native stores. Unity IAP handles integration with native and off-platform services, eliminating the need to manage individual provider SDKs.
Centralized Management with a Single Catalog
Product catalogs for native stores and D2C web shops can be managed centrally. Price localization and currency support are unified, allowing for cross-platform tracking of player purchasing behavior and LTV.
Unity-Hosted Web Shops are Free
There is no additional charge for using Unity-hosted web shops. Developers only bear the fees for the payment providers they use.
