Unito Inc. (Headquarters: Meguro-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Yutaro Kondo; hereinafter "the Company") has significantly renewed the search experience for its hybrid rental and accommodation platform "unito" (https://unito.life/).

This renewal was developed based on an analysis of existing user behavior over the past two years. This analysis revealed that the information users need, the tools they use, and their decision-making structures fundamentally differ between rental contracts and accommodation bookings. With this renewal, users can simply select a "Live / Stay Plan" to optimize their search for each purpose, and the "Map Function" allows for simultaneous comparison of surrounding environments while viewing property details.

Moving forward, we aim to continue providing a hybrid room-finding experience for rentals and accommodations tailored to various life scenes, catering to both domestic and international needs.

◼︎ Background of the Renewal

Our company has pursued the vision of "optimizing living" and has proposed new innovations in living by combining "living" assets, known as residences, with accommodation functions.

Under this vision, "unito," provided by our company, is a room-finding platform where procedures can be completed online, allowing for same-day move-in/stay. In 2020, we launched a plan to contract rental housing/hotels on a "monthly basis" as the "Live Plan," and from 2024, we released a plan for accommodation use on a "daily basis" as the "Stay Plan."

Now, two years after the release of the "unito" Stay Plan, we have decided to significantly renew the search experience for both "Live / Stay Plans" by utilizing accumulated user experience data.

■ Overview of Search Experience Renewal | Analysis of approximately two years of user experience

1. "Live / Stay" Plan Selection Now Possible | Search Function Optimized by Purpose

Before searching for a room on "unito," users can now simply select "Live / Stay," and the search screen will switch to one optimized for each purpose. This development was initiated because user experience revealed that the information required, tools used, and decision-making structures fundamentally differ for rental contracts and accommodation bookings.

2. "Map Function" to Check Location While Viewing Property Information | Towards an Easier-to-Compare UI/UX

We adopted a UI that displays the property list and map on the same screen. This allows users to browse the property list while checking location information, reducing unnecessary navigation to detail pages. The map display shows icons for major lines, roads, and spots, supporting optimal room finding even for international users unfamiliar with the area.

The development of the map search function was based on statistical data of device usage. While smartphone usage accounts for approximately 70% of views on the top page and property detail pages, PC usage accounts for over 60% of views on search results pages.

Since "unito" receives many accesses from overseas, the goal is to create an environment where even those unfamiliar with the area can make intuitive judgments through an easy-to-understand map function that shows positional relationships. This led to the release of the map function, which allows simultaneous understanding of the property list and location information.

"Is it near the station?" "Are there shops around?"
We aimed to create an experience where users can intuitively find a "place that suits them," including the location and surrounding environment, by switching between the map and the list.
