United Airlines Announces 'United Relax Row' - Enhancing International Flight Comfort with Economy Seats that Transform into a 'Couch'

Three dedicated seats in United Economy's Relax Row can be used as a full-flat mattress after takeoff.

March 24, 2026 (Chicago, Los Angeles) – United Airlines (Headquarters: Chicago, CEO: Scott Kirby) today announced "United Relax RowSM." Relax Row is a new option that allows United Economy seats to be connected and used as a "couch," offering a more comfortable choice for customers traveling in economy class on long-haul routes. United Airlines is the first North American airline to offer this type of seating option and holds exclusive rights to this design in North America.

These newly established three dedicated Relax Row seats feature individually adjustable leg rests that can be raised 90 degrees to the same height as the seat, allowing passengers to lie down, stretch out, or enjoy movies. It is an optimal choice for families with small children, solo travelers, and couples who wish to enhance comfort at United Economy price points. Customers utilizing this service will receive special amenities, including a dedicated Relax Row mattress pad, a large, soft-touch blanket, two additional pillows, and for families with children, a plush toy and a children's travel kit.

United Relax Row is scheduled for introduction in 2027 and is planned for deployment on over 200 Boeing 787 and 777 wide-body aircraft by 2030. Relax Row seats will be located between United Economy and United Premium Plus, with up to 12 sections planned per aircraft.
