Unicharm Corporation (President and CEO: Takahiro Fujioka, hereinafter: Unicharm), in collaboration with NPO Red Box Japan (Representative Director: Kanna Oguma, hereinafter: Red Box Japan), has launched the 'BRIGHT FUTURE OKINAWA' project. As part of the 'Sofie Anywhere' project, which promotes an environment where napkins can be obtained whenever needed, this initiative will introduce 'School Sofy,' school-based menstrual napkin dispensers, to nearly all schools in Okinawa Prefecture. To commemorate this project, a charity event was held on March 28, 2026, at Aeon Mall Okinawa Rycom, to mark the dispatch of 'School Sofy' to 495 schools across the prefecture. Background of the 'BRIGHT FUTURE OKINAWA' Project 'BRIGHT FUTURE OKINAWA' is a project aiming to create a society where children in Okinawa can learn with peace of mind and grow towards their future. In recent years, movements to guarantee access to menstrual products from educational and health perspectives have been spreading globally, promoting the development of systems to support menstruation within society. By providing menstrual products in schools, this initiative aims to empower female students, implement a 'system supported by the entire community' for menstruation, which has traditionally been considered a 'personal issue,' as a new social infrastructure to support children, and realize Okinawa as an international model city for women's active participation. FC Ryukyu, with its philosophy of 'From Okinawa, let's make the world UMUSAN (Okinawan dialect for interesting) together!' and aiming to build a society that supports children's futures, and FC Ryukyu Sakura, with its slogan 'A women's team building Okinawa's future' and working to solve social issues in Okinawa, have endorsed this project. Moving forward, the project aims to build a 'cutting-edge model for women's active participation city' by linking schools and communities, including the phased introduction of 'Sofie Anywhere' project menstrual napkin dispensers in the restrooms of FC Ryukyu and FC Ryukyu Sakura home game venues starting in April. ■Charity Event Overview: Community and Sports Unite to Dispatch 'Future Infrastructure' Date: Saturday, March 28, 2026, 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM Venue: Aeon Hall A, Aeon Mall Okinawa Rycom Organizer: NPO Red Box Japan Cooperation: FC Ryukyu Sakura, FC Ryukyu Sakura ale, Unicharm Content: Following a press conference for the project, a ceremony was held to commemorate the dispatch of 'School Sofy' dispensers and menstrual products to 495 schools in Okinawa Prefecture.
