Since its founding in 1893, Umenoyado Brewery has protected tradition as a local sake brewery in Yamato while also walking a history of anticipating the times and embracing change. In the 1970s, we shifted from a system centered on selling bulk sake to major companies, which was then mainstream, to aiming to establish our own brand by embarking on full-scale ginjo sake brewing. We have also incorporated diverse perspectives, such as being the first sake brewery in Japan to employ an Englishman as a kuraudo (brewery worker). Furthermore, in 2017, we graduated from the long-standing Toji (master brewer) system. We have now transitioned to a "team-based" production system, pursuing not only reliance on the individual experience of the Toji but also organizational knowledge transfer and further stabilization and improvement of quality based on data.

Umenoyado Brewery took the initiative in the industry to develop and produce "sake-based plum wine" to bring out new appeal from sake. At the time, this was an unprecedented endeavor, but with the strong belief in "creating a new sake culture," we repeatedly experimented and succeeded in establishing our own unique category.
Currently, as a pioneer in sake liqueurs, we continue to propose new ways to enjoy alcohol, including the "Umenoyado Aragoshi Series" which generously uses fruit pulp, and the "Otona no Kakinuma" (Adult Fruit Pulp Swamp) series which can be eaten as well as drunk.
