【UESHIMA MUSEUM】Small-group "Premium Guided Tours" led by curators before opening hours to begin in April

UESHIMA MUSEUM (https://ueshima-museum.com) will launch the "Premium Guided Tour," a small-group program held before opening hours, starting April 19, 2026.

This tour is a special program where visitors can appreciate the artworks with commentary from a curator inside the quiet museum before it opens to the general public. With a small-group capacity of 15 people, the program allows for a deeper understanding of the works and the background of the exhibition, while enriching the viewing experience through dialogue with the curator.

After the tour, visitors can freely explore the museum for up to three hours. A key attraction of this program is the ability to take one's time with the artworks in a calm space before the crowds arrive. It offers a fresh perspective for both first-time visitors and repeaters alike.

Due to the nature of the commentary, this tour is particularly recommended for junior high school students and older. Children of elementary school age and younger may participate for free, provided they are accompanied by a guardian.

The school is highly regarded for its education that emphasizes an international perspective and high ethical standards under the fundamental goal of "Seek and Think for Oneself" (Jicho-Jiko). The museum building, named "Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen Ueshima Tower," was opened after renovating the building formerly used by The British School in Tokyo until August 2023. The British School in Tokyo was established in 1988, and its opening ceremony was held in September of the following year in the presence of the late former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.

Founder of the UESHIMA MUSEUM COLLECTION. Born in Chiba Prefecture in 1979. Graduated from Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen Makuhari Senior High School in 1998 and entered the Natural Sciences I program at the University of Tokyo. While a student at the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Engineering, he founded Dream Career Co., Ltd. Currently, while expanding his business diversely as an entrepreneur and investor, he also frequents domestic and international auction houses and galleries. He continues to build a collection of contemporary art ranging from world-class masters to young Japanese artists. In 2024, he was selected for the US edition of ARTnews "Top 200 Collectors" (a special feature introducing the 200 most active art collectors in the world that year).

**Kankuro Ueshima Profile**

Founder of "UESHIMA MUSEUM COLLECTION", born in Chiba prefecture, Japan in 1979. Ueshima graduated from Shibuya Kyoiku Gakuen Makuhari Senior High School in 1998, then enrolled in the Natural Sciences I at the University of Tokyo. While attending the Faculty of Engineering, he started his own business and has since developed a diversified business as an entrepreneur and investor.
