UCC Ueshima Coffee Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Kobe, Hyogo; Capital: 100 million yen; President: Hiroshi Shibatani; hereinafter 'UCC') announces the end of sales for this season of 'YOINED', Japan's first*1 edible coffee created with a unique manufacturing method, which was born in 2023 and is sold for a limited time each year.
'YOINED' is an edible-style coffee launched by UCC in November 2023, created using Japan's first*1 unique manufacturing method. The origin of 'YOINED' lies in the extraordinary desire of researchers to 'fully enjoy the 'aroma', which is the charm of coffee beans...'. After more than 20 years of trial and error, the result is a new coffee food where you can taste all the original aromas and flavors (sweetness, acidity, bitterness) of coffee beans, which cannot be experienced with 'drinking' coffee. Because it is an eating style, 'YOINED' allows you to feel the rich aroma more directly than 'drinking' coffee, and as the name suggests ('Yoin' means lingering finish), you can fully enjoy the lingering aftertaste usually felt slowly after drinking coffee.
For this season (November 2025 - March 2026), 'YOINED' newly selected two types of coffee: Colombian, which incorporates the fermentation process that is the latest trend in coffee, and Guatemalan, produced at a prestigious farm, and also reviewed the roasting method. We achieved a roast that makes you feel the fruity acidity inherent in the two types of beans, greatly evolving the taste. It attracted attention even before its release, and despite increasing the initial stock quantity to over 120% of the previous year on the UCC official online store, it sold out in just two days, and the number of orders received for the initial pre-order sales grew to 160%*2 compared to the previous year.
During the Valentine's season, in response to the recent surge in cacao bean prices, 'YOINED' attracted attention as a new gift choice that does not use cacao beans, and was adopted for the first time as a Valentine's product at the Valentine's special venue 'Valentine Chocolat Collection 2026' held at Abeno Harukas Kintetsu Main Store.
Also, despite looking like chocolate, it was featured by various media as a Valentine's product as a 0% cacao coffee food, and as a result, it sold out early before the end of the sales period on the UCC official online store.
Furthermore, by taking advantage of the characteristic of 'edible style coffee', we strengthened proposals for mariage with alcohol, providing a place to experience a new coffee culture. As a result of testing pairings with various alcohols for this season's 'YOINED', it was found to have an outstanding affinity with Japanese sake, so we collaborated with the sake brand 'SAKE HUNDRED', which has won numerous awards in global sake competitions. We devised a mariage with alcohol and proposed expanding enjoyment further by elevating the umami of Japanese sake through pairing with 'YOINED'. From February 11, 2026, we collaborated with the sake specialty bar 'Sake Labo Tokyo' to offer a special menu, limited in quantity, that incorporated a pairing menu of 'YOINED' and Japanese sake into part of the course meal, providing a lingering experience where the aroma of 'YOINED' and Japanese sake overlap.
From January 15 to February 14, 2026, in UCC's first collaboration with 'The Prince Gallery Tokyo Kioicho, a Luxury Collection Hotel', we offered mariage sets 'Truffevardier Pairing with YOINED (Guatemala)' and 'ORIGIN Pairing with YOINED (Colombia)' with cocktails jointly developed by the hotel's bartender and a UCC Coffee Academy full-time instructor that maximized the charm of 'YOINED', allowing customers to enjoy a new luxurious lingering experience.
Regarding future sales, we are proceeding with product development targeting around Fall 2026. Please look forward to 'YOINED', which continues to evolve every year.
*1 Patent No. 6849552
A technology to manufacture a food product by grinding roasted coffee beans, mixing and kneading the ground material with coffee oil (1% to 5% in the food) extracted separately from coffee beans, and hardened oil. By molding and solidifying this, the finely ground coffee is coated with coffee oil and hardened oil, tightly locking in the coffee aroma, producing a food product from which the coffee aroma overflows when put in the mouth.
*2 Pre-order period: 10 days from October 22 to October 31, 2024, and October 28 to November 3, 2025
