This agreement aims to foster close collaboration between Setouchi City and Uber Eats Japan, effectively leveraging each party's human, material, and intellectual resources to create vibrant communities and contribute to regional economic development. By working together as public and private entities to establish convenient, safe, and secure living environments, the partnership seeks to improve residents' quality of life and encourage young families to move to and settle in the area.

Key Areas of Collaboration

Both parties will cooperate on the following initiatives:

- Regional revitalization - Safety and security in daily community life - Exchange and utilization of information on advanced technologies

Initiatives and Future Developments

Based on the comprehensive partnership agreement, the following initiatives will be progressively implemented:

### Regional Economic Activation and Merchant/Secondary Income Support

The partnership will promote online delivery adoption among local restaurants and retail businesses, supporting expanded customer reach and increased sales. Additionally, by further expanding service coverage within the city following the agreement, the initiative aims to create a more comfortable environment for tourists—including international visitors—enhancing the city’s appeal as a tourist destination. It will also create flexible opportunities for residents to earn supplemental income as delivery partners.

### Enhancing Convenience for the Elderly and Those with Limited Mobility

The partnership will establish an environment enabling the elderly and others with limited access to shopping to easily obtain essential meals, food, and daily necessities, contributing to building a community where everyone can live with peace of mind.

Yuko Ninomiya, Head of Merchant Development at Uber Eats Japan, stated:

"We are deeply honored to have signed this comprehensive partnership agreement with Setouchi City, Okayama Prefecture. In Setouchi City, where we launched our service this past April, we aim to position Uber Eats' delivery network as a 'social infrastructure' for the region—supporting local restaurants and retailers in expanding their sales channels, while helping residents conveniently access meals and daily essentials anytime, contributing to a safe, convenient, and secure lifestyle.

Moreover, Setouchi City, home to Kojima—often called 'Japan's Aegean Sea'—is an exceptionally attractive region rich in nature and culture, drawing visitors from both within Japan and abroad. Through this agreement, we plan to further expand our service areas, enhance convenience for tourists, and contribute to strengthening the city’s appeal as an international tourist destination.

This agreement marks the starting point toward a sustainable future. Going forward, we will closely collaborate to support residents’ safe, secure, and vibrant lifestyles—expanding delivery services not only for meals but also for daily necessities and household essentials to make everyday shopping even more convenient."
