[Profile of Ryo Yamazaki]
Community Designer. Certified Social Worker. Born in Aichi Prefecture in 1973. Completed graduate studies at Osaka Prefecture University and the University of Tokyo Graduate School. Ph.D. (Engineering). After working at architectural and landscape design firms, he established studio-L in 2005. He is involved in community design to help local residents solve community issues. His projects often focus on workshops for town development, resident participation in comprehensive planning, and citizen participation in park management. His books include "The Roots of Community Design" (Ohta Publishing), "Shrinking Japan" (PHP Shinsho), "Designing Communities for Care" (Igaku-shoin), and "The Economy of Acquaintance" (Kobunsha).
