Entering an era where producers and roasters co-create coffee value through direct dialogue.
TYPICA Holdings Co., Ltd. (Representative: Masaru Goto), which operates the direct trade online platform for green coffee beans "TYPICA", has publicly released "Direct Quote™", the first feature in the domestic coffee market enabling direct quote requests to producers, limited initially between Japan and Brazil.
Based on a direct trade ecosystem officially recognized by the Japanese and Brazilian governments, this feature allows medium to large-scale coffee roasters in consuming countries to directly and simultaneously request quotes and negotiate with all excellent producers worldwide who have a need for stable, long-term transactions, and who have passed TYPICA's screening and pre-approval.
Since announcing this ecosystem a year ago, TYPICA has opened a base in Brazil and promoted the expansion of its producer network. As a result, the Brazilian producer network compatible with Direct Quote™ has grown to 7,799 farms, possessing a production and supply capacity of approximately 1.5 million bags annually (about 90,000 tons / equivalent to 5,000 containers). The total transaction potential based on current market price levels is estimated to be around 100 billion yen, covering over 50% of Brazilian coffee distributed in Japan, which prompted the public release of this feature exclusively between Japan and Brazil.
With this feature, coffee producers and roasters, who previously had limited opportunities for encounters and dialogues, can match on the TYPICA platform and engage in highly transparent and stable transactions through direct dialogue via AI translation.
Moving forward, leveraging TYPICA's network spanning 114 countries and regions starting from Japan and Brazil, we plan to sequentially expand the target countries.

AI overcomes language barriers, realizing direct dialogue between producers and roasters. Negotiable in native languages with producers worldwide.
◆ Background of "Direct Quote™" Development
From late 2024 to early 2025, international coffee prices continued to hit record highs, with Arabica futures exceeding US$4 per pound for the first time. While supply concerns are behind this surge, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) report notes that transactions by a wide range of market participants in the futures market, in addition to actual demand, contribute to price volatility. Furthermore, with the spread of automated trading utilizing AI, TYPICA is concerned that the structure where price fluctuations induce further trading is strengthening, potentially widening price swings detached from actual supply and demand.
Under these circumstances, the more fundamental issue is that many coffee transactions are conducted under a structure linked to futures prices. Production costs and added value are not fully reflected in the price, and information such as quality and production background is structurally difficult to evaluate appropriately. Additionally, opportunities for direct communication between producers and roasters are limited, making it difficult for stable transactions based on long-term trust and mutual understanding to emerge. As a result, producers lack incentives to invest in quality improvement and sustainable production, and roasters find it difficult to achieve procurement stability and differentiation.
TYPICA has been working to realize highly transparent transactions through direct trade. The newly developed "Direct Quote™" provides a mechanism where producers and roasters can proactively present and negotiate transaction terms while disclosing quality, price, concepts, trade conditions, and other background information including flavor and taste. Moreover, producers and roasters who share aspirations and visions can build trusting relationships as partners co-creating coffee's added value, increasing the ratio of direct trade in both sales and procurement portfolios over the long term.
