TV Osaka, celebrating its 45th anniversary, is advancing a major project with a total investment of up to 100 million yen to continuously develop and broadcast new content starting October 2026. Currently, they are widely soliciting "proposal ideas that are not bound by conventional television norms or preconceptions" from both inside and outside the company.
By the application deadline for the first round (May 31st), over 500 project proposals were received.
Applicants ranged widely, from high school girls in their teens to civil engineering professionals in their 70s and beyond, with diverse ideas submitted across a wide spectrum of genres including variety shows, dramas, anime, music, sports, news, and documentaries.
Proposals submitted for the first round will be reviewed by July 31st, after which the selected proposals will be decided and applicants will be notified.
Furthermore, this project continues to accept proposals for its second round, and we eagerly await further innovative ideas.
To everyone taking "the next step"

[Comment from Hiroki Okamoto, Director of Content Strategy Bureau]
In today's era overflowing with diverse entertainment, I feel it's essential to continuously and boldly create "out-of-the-box" content that others don't venture into, in order to remain a chosen presence for viewers.
However, there are limits to what we can achieve solely with our own strength.
Therefore, we aim to challenge ourselves with completely new content by combining your novel ideas, polished IPs, and new business models with our accumulated video production capabilities and broadcasting/distribution know-how.
"Can this really be done on TV?"
-- Ideas that question such common sense are most welcome.
Let's embark on challenging content that will surprise the world together with TV Osaka!
Project Overview
©TV Osaka
Over the course of one year starting from October 2026, new projects will be broadcast monthly (target) in the late-night slot (other time slots may be considered depending on the project).
The application framework, which was traditionally centered internally, has been significantly expanded to welcome proposals from a diverse range of partners, including external creators, production companies, IP development firms, and influencers.
Proposals that show potential for secondary development such as distribution, events, and merchandise, in addition to terrestrial broadcasting, will be prioritized for selection.
Three Support Promises from the Project
Pilot Version Broadcast on Terrestrial TV
Selected proposals are guaranteed a production and broadcast slot of "15-30 minutes x multiple episodes (2-4 episodes) *all new episodes (reruns not included)" in the late-night slot from October 2026 onwards. We provide an opportunity to present the content to the world, not just leave it at the "consideration" stage, and aim for regularization of promising content.
Direct Investment of Up to 10 Million Yen
The total production cost, anticipating regularization, is a record-breaking 100 million yen (maximum) for TV Osaka!
An amount of 2 million to 10 million yen (or more depending on the content) per proposal will be provided as production costs (all expenses for program production).
*Production costs exceeding the estimated amount may be considered depending on the nature of the proposal and its future development potential. This project will review and select proposals sequentially as they are received.
Fair Partnership and Rights Design
We will flexibly accommodate revenue sharing for secondary development and joint production (e.g., production committee system) in accordance with the applicant's investment or provided resources.
*Investment is not mandatory.
Desired Project Genres
We are seeking proposals in "uncharted territories" that TV Osaka has not yet explored, or that are considered incompatible with the television medium.
Creation of Next-Generation Icons
New genres based on actors, musicians, comedians, cultural figures, YouTubers, influencers, VTubers, characters, etc.
Co-creation with Specialized Media
Visualizing in-depth information from magazines, web media, and audio media.
Solution-Oriented IP
Content that solves challenges faced by companies or local governments through the power of entertainment.
Technology x Expression
AI-generated content, vertical dramas, game tie-ins, metaverse.
Target-Specific Content
Generation Alpha (preschoolers), niche overseas audiences, minor sports, niche hobbies.
<Past Examples>
The ghost story event at Expo recorded great success, with original merchandise developed in collaboration with 'Miyakumi'. Tickets for the "Hatsumimi Kaidan" (First Hearing Ghost Stories) program event, which continues to expand its IP 360 degrees beyond broadcast, sold out instantly! A talk show "Saraba no Kono Hon Dare ga Kaito N'ne!" (Who Wrote This Book by Saraba?) inviting authors of "quirky books" to discuss their works.
The program "Hentai Shokubutsu Club" (Perverted Plant Club), which sparked discussion in plant enthusiast circles with "Is this the first program to go this deep into rare plant love?" "NEWS CRISIS," a "newsworthy" program hosted by Tenjiku Kawara, confronting various "crises" lurking in the world and proposing solutions. "Habatake! Idol Fes" (Soar! Idol Festival), a program supporting Kansai idols aiming for global success, bringing them all together.

"Originality": A "next-level" approach that other stations cannot imitate.
