Giant Cherry Salmon Bloom in Hokkaido!

This time, we're targeting cherry salmon in Hokkaido.

Cherry salmon are the sea-run form of amago (yamame trout). Among amago born in rivers, those that descend to the abundant seas and grow large are called cherry salmon.

Cherry salmon that have grown in the sea eventually return to the river where they were born to spawn. Targeting them there is the basic strategy for cherry salmon fishing. However, fishing for salmon and trout is prohibited in rivers in Hokkaido, so anglers target cherry salmon in the sea before they ascend.
