Turkish Airlines Announces Management Changes

Turkish Airlines has implemented changes to its management structure, with new appointments to the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer role, aligning with the company's corporate objectives. Prof. Murat Şeker, who served for many years as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) overseeing finance, treasury, and investor relations, has been appointed Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee of Turkish Airlines. Prof. Şeker holds a Bachelor's degree in Management Engineering from Marmara University (2000), a Master's in Economics from Sabancı University, and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota. His international experience includes serving as an economist at the World Bank from 2008 to 2013, focusing on innovation, entrepreneurship, international trade, and emerging market growth. From 2013 to 2016, he was Senior Vice President of Financial Institutions and Investor Relations at Ziraat Bank, managing international fundraising and investor relations, and serving on the boards of Ziraat Investment, Ziraat Individual Pension, and Ziraat Insurance. He joined Turkish Airlines as CFO in July 2016, overseeing finance, treasury, accounting, procurement, and investor relations. Since March 2021, he has been a Board Member and Executive Committee Member of Turkish Airlines, also serving on the boards of Turkish Technic and SunExpress. Since 2024, he has been a member of the IATA Financial Advisory Committee, becoming its Chairman in 2025, advising the IATA Board of Governors on financial services policy. He was also an adjunct lecturer at Boğaziçi University from 2015 to 2018 and was appointed Professor in December 2025. Ahmet Olmuştur, born in Istanbul in 1980, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Turkish Airlines. He previously served as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), leading strategic sales and marketing. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Marmara University and an MBA through an international program affiliated with Long Island University, European Business School, and Paul Léonard de Vinci. Olmuştur began his career at Turkish Airlines in 2000 as a call center intern. His progression through various roles, including Flight Analyst in Revenue Management, GDS Manager, Manager of Route Revenue Management & Revenue Management, and Senior Vice President for overall Revenue Management, exemplifies a successful career within the company. From 2014, he served as Chief Marketing & Sales Officer, and from 2024, as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), leading the commercial division. Throughout his career, he has made significant contributions to network planning, revenue management and pricing strategies, sales and marketing, customer experience, and the Miles&Smiles loyalty program. He also serves on the boards of SunExpress (as Board Member and Auditor) and Turkish Technic, and is a member of the IATA Distribution Advisory Committee.
