Tsuchiya Kaban Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Adachi-ku, Tokyo; hereinafter 'the Company') will release 'JAPANMOTIF Nami', a new product from the 'JAPANMOTIF' series, which reinterprets inspiration drawn from uniquely Japanese forms and traditional culture, from its leather goods brand 'TSUCHIYA KABAN', which originated from a school backpack workshop, on Thursday, June 11, 2026.

As the brand's first 'washable bag', two types will be available: a tote bag and a sacoche. An original ripple pattern inspired by Japanese classical patterns has been applied to Toray Industries, Inc.'s washable high-grade artificial leather 'Ultrasuede TS'. The delicate pattern, which appears to shimmer with the changing light, and the supple texture bring a quiet rhythm to your attire.

Both items will be sold at 14 'TSUCHIYA KABAN' stores nationwide and on the company's online store.

This collection takes inspiration from Japanese beauty and tradition, deconstructing and reconstructing its motifs to propose new forms for the present era.

High-Function Artificial Leather 'Ultrasuede TS' Combining Texture and Functionality

The main material, 'Ultrasuede TS', is a high-sensitivity, high-function artificial leather (suede-like artificial leather) developed by Toray Industries, Inc. using ultra-fine fiber technology, with a texture extremely close to natural suede. It uses plant-derived recycled resources (polyester) as part of its raw materials, contributing to a reduced environmental burden.

It features a soft and supple touch, is resistant to tearing and abrasion, and is less prone to pilling. Its unique luster, which changes expression depending on the viewing angle, is also appealing. Additionally, it has moderate breathability and moisture permeability, making it less stuffy and comfortable to use. It does not require leather-like care and can be washed at home (by hand or using the hand-wash mode of a washing machine), allowing for easy use.

Original Ripple Pattern Capturing the Scenery of Water

This original ripple pattern from TSUCHIYA KABAN was born from the concept of 'washing'.

It is inspired by the Japanese classical pattern 'Seigaiha'. This pattern, which embodies the wish for 'peaceful days to continue' through endlessly gentle waves, has been reconstructed into a modern pattern that blends with contemporary styling.

The pattern is delicately engraved on the surface of Toray Industries, Inc.'s 'Ultrasuede TS' using laser processing with a limited number of specialized machines worldwide. It subtly embodies the concept of this work, echoing the characteristic of being a washable material.
