TSI Holdings Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Tsuyoshi Shimoji) held a press conference on Monday, June 8th, in the head office executive boardroom for the second phase of the "MOVE WEAR" project. This universal design wear centers around clothing worn on a robotic arm, currently being developed by inventor Ory Yoshifuji (hereafter referred to as Mr. Ory), director of Ory Lab Inc., which develops and provides the avatar robot "OriHime" that allows people with intractable diseases or severe disabilities who have difficulty leaving home to provide customer service remotely from their homes.

The second phase of the "MOVE WEAR" project involves creating universal design costumes for Mr. Muto, an ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) patient and longtime ally of Mr. Ory, to wear when he performs at "MOVE FES 2026," which he produces and will be held at EX THEATER ROPPONGI on Saturday, June 20th. This project centers on the clothing developed to be worn on the robotic arm designed for him. It updates the universal design costumes provided at "MOVE FES 2024" held in Shibuya in November 2024. Furthermore, this time, as the first product developed for sale, a cross-brand internal project team worked together with Mr. Muto on planning and design, tackling social issues.

On the day of the press conference, Hiromi Fujita, a designer for the "NAVYNAVY" section of Natural Beauty Basic, and Yusuke Honda of the repair workshop "ReSew," who was in charge of sewing, also took the stage. Together with Mr. Muto, who wore the "MOVE WEAR," they explained the universal design and functionality.

The design concept this time is "X_CONNECT," inspired by the theme of "MOVE FES 2026": "THANKS X RESPECT. 10 Years of Gratitude and Respect." With the image of 10 years of trajectory and future challenges intersecting, connecting people, technology, and thoughts around Mr. Muto, the nylon parka incorporates mesh material throughout to allow heat to escape easily, addressing the issue of the artificial robotic arm's battery heat building up. X-shaped hook loops are attached to the left and right of the hood so it can be easily attached and detached using the artificial robotic arm. The ribbed cuffs also function to prevent the sleeves from slipping down, and in pursuit of stage appeal, LED tape is placed on the sleeves in a cross shape. The inside of the hood features red and blue LED tape, the theme colors. The glowing LED tape results in a costume that shines on stage.

Additionally, the MA-1 Vest worn under the parka uses nylon twill material. It features authentic flight jacket specifications such as box pockets, radiator pockets, and wiring tabs. For ease of putting on and taking off, open zippers are adopted on both sides. To make it easy to operate regardless of grip strength, ring-shaped universal designs were incorporated into the pulls. The front uses a two-way zipper that can be opened and closed from either the top or bottom, making it easy to adjust the hem width even while seated in a wheelchair. As it is gender-neutral, it is designed to be worn comfortably by anyone.

Furthermore, this time, an original patch was also created using the eye-tracking system "OriHime Eye Plus Switch," developed by Ory Lab and mastered by Mr. Muto, featuring a graphic motif he eye-designed. Magnets are wrapped in cloth, allowing you to attach your favorite patches wherever you like.

Unlike the year before last, which only provided universal specification costumes for the day of "MOVE FES," this time the MA-1 Vest and various original patches have been commercialized. Orders will be accepted from June 20th at the "MOVE FES 2026" venue and on the online site of WITH ALS's brand "01 BORDERLESS WEAR," for which Mr. Muto serves as Representative Director.

The MA-1 Vest is 44,000 yen including tax, and the original patch is 3,000 yen including tax per piece.
*Because the MA-1 Vest is made-to-order, shipping is scheduled for around November 2026.

Mr. Muto, who co-designed the items, spoke through his eye-tracking device: "'01 BORDERLESS WEAR' is a brand that proposes clothing that all people, regardless of disabilities, can wear comfortably and stylishly. We propose clothing not as something to be given unilaterally, but as something that can be chosen and changed according to one's condition and senses. The MOVE WEAR planned and provided by TSI Holdings this time will also be sold through '01 BORDERLESS WEAR.' However, the goal is not just to sell clothes; as a charity brand that circulates expression, research support, and social participation, a portion of the proceeds is donated to research and development costs for ALS treatments. Fashion is an important icon that symbolizes one's individuality. Every day, I continue my battle with ALS, but fashion makes me feel more positive than any treatment. The MA-1 Vest has authentic specifications and a stylish design, resulting in an item that anyone, not just people with disabilities, can enjoy as fashion. I hope as many people as possible will wear it and enjoy fashion."

Regarding this project, Mr. Ory Yoshifuji stated, "We have been developing various technologies for about 20 years under the theme of 'eliminating human loneliness.' It has been 13 years since I encountered the disease ALS, and 10 years since I started working with Muto. ALS is a progressive disease, and the body gradually loses mobility. However, I thought that by supplementing it with technology, we might be able to maintain physical functions and expression. Using eye-tracking and artificial robotic arms, we have continued the DJ event 'MOVE FES' for nearly 10 years, continuously expanding his body as he always wished. 'MOVE WEAR,' which started the year before last and is being co-developed with TSI Holdings, is a project to restore Muto's movements. Muto raises and waves his hands broadly during his DJing using eye-tracking and technology.

And, by 'wearing clothes,' it truly looks like his own movement. If he himself is moving according to his will, it is no exaggeration to say that it is truly Muto's movement. This is a major project to uncover how the perception from those around him changes because of this. We believe it is a great challenge to human dignity, regarding how one is treated by others through fashion and how one recognizes oneself. I would be very happy if you could pay attention to what kind of physical expression Muto will show while wearing the new 'MOVE WEAR' developed together with everyone at TSI Holdings this time."
