MUFG First Sentier Sustainable Investment Institute (the "Institute"), jointly operated by Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation and its subsidiary First Sentier Group, has released a new report titled "Climate Risks Facing Global Food Systems and Adaptation Strategies".

[Overview of the Report]

This report was awarded the Best Climate Action category at the Pensions for Purpose Awards 2025.

Global food systems face the challenge of meeting rising demand driven by population growth, economic development, and urbanization. At the same time, threats from climate risks and extreme weather events are becoming increasingly severe.

These concerns are further heightened by projections that, based on current policies and progress in climate action, global temperatures will rise by 2.5°C by 2050. This implies that stakeholders across the global food system will continue to face intensifying impacts from climate risks and extreme weather over the coming decades.

To support responses to these risks, this report aims to deepen understanding of the major impacts of climate change and extreme weather on global food supply chains, while also presenting concrete strategies that support food security, resilience, and commercial returns.

The report systematically outlines how future climate risks will affect food supply chains and clearly explains adaptation measures that enhance food security and resilience, as well as investment opportunities arising from these measures.
