Tokyo German Village (Location: Sodegaura City, Chiba Prefecture; Operated by: Meiwa Kosan Co., Ltd.) has fully renovated its "Hydrangea Forest" area and planted a total of 700 cherry trees.
These cherry trees were donated by Mr. Takeo Kawaguchi, a former member of the Sosa City Council who has contributed to the local community for many years. Replacing the hydrangeas that were previously enjoyed here, these young cherry trees, which now color various parts of the park, have finally begun to produce their lovely blossoms this spring. We are pleased to announce the birth of a new "cherry blossom landmark" at Tokyo German Village.
A Bold Renewal: From "Hydrangeas" to an Area Where "Cherry Blossoms" Take Center Stage
At Tokyo German Village, we are dedicated to creating beautiful landscapes for every season. Following the generous donation from Mr. Takeo Kawaguchi, we have carried out a major redevelopment centered on the "Hydrangea Forest," which had previously colored the early summer. We have replaced the hydrangeas with 700 cherry saplings, boldly renewing the entire area into a space where visitors can enjoy a "spectacular spring view."
We redeveloped the Hydrangea Forest and planted the donated cherry trees.

Overview of the Donated Cherry Trees (700 total): A "Cherry Blossom Relay" from Early to Late Spring
By planting a wide variety of species, the park will be dyed in shades of pink over a long period, from early-blooming to late-blooming varieties.
Yoko (Early-blooming): 150 trees (A vibrant, deep pink cherry blossom that heralds the arrival of spring a little earlier than others)
Somei Yoshino: 150 trees (The synonym for Japanese spring. A classic cherry blossom that boasts overwhelming splendor)
Weeping Cherry (Heian, etc.): 200 trees (Cherry trees that create an atmospheric landscape with their graceful branches)
Double-flowered Cherry (5 varieties including Kanzan, Gyoiko, and Yang Guifei): 200 trees (Cherry blossoms that decorate the finale of spring with their beautiful, multi-layered petals)
The Wishes of Mr. Takeo Kawaguchi and the Future Outlook of Tokyo German Village
The 700 cherry trees embody the warm wish of Mr. Kawaguchi: "I want many people to enjoy the cherry blossoms and for this to be a place of peace." Although they are young saplings that have just been planted, they are firmly taking root, and some have already begun to bloom beautifully this year.
We look forward to these young trees spreading their branches year by year, growing into one of Chiba Prefecture's leading "cherry blossom landmarks" that will welcome guests with tunnels of full-bloom blossoms and beautiful cherry blossom blizzards. Tokyo German Village will watch over the growth of these trees together with the local community and nurture them with care.
