Rihga Royal Hotel Kyoto (1 Matsubara-cho, Higashi Horikawa-dori, Shio-koji, Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto; General Manager Tomoki Nakaya) is implementing special decorations in its 1st-floor lobby from Wednesday, July 1, 2026, to Friday, July 31, 2026, in conjunction with the Gion Festival.

Kyoto's iconic summer tradition, the Gion Festival, runs throughout the month of July, attracting numerous domestic and international visitors each year. The festivities reach their peak during the 'Saki Matsuri' (Preliminary Festival) evening celebrations (Yoiyama) from July 14 (Tue) to 16 (Thu), and the grand Yamaboko Junko parade on July 17 (Fri).

To allow more guests to enjoy the atmosphere of Kyoto's summer and the Gion Festival, the hotel has decorated its 1st-floor lobby with Komagata lanterns, 'Kyomaru' fans, and a miniature version of the Naginata-Hoko float—a treasured symbol the hotel has long preserved—creating an immersive experience of the festival's spirit. The sounds of 'Gion Bayashi' traditional music gently echo through the lobby, allowing guests to feel the excitement of the festival from the moment they enter the hotel.

From Tuesday, July 14, to Friday, July 17, front desk staff will welcome guests in vibrant yukata instead of their usual uniforms, adding to the festive spirit and celebrating one of Japan's three great festivals in style.
