Royal Hotel to Open Accommodation-Focused “RIHGA Gran Chitose” in Chitose, Hokkaido

Royal Hotel, Ltd. (Nakanoshima, Kita-ku, Osaka; President and Representative Director: Fumikazu Ueda) will open “RIHGA Gran Chitose,” an accommodation-focused hotel in Chitose, Hokkaido. This will mark the group’s first expansion into Hokkaido. Chitose, Hokkaido, is drawing significant attention from Japan and overseas due to the entry of semiconductor manufacturers and the concentration of related industries. In addition to its role as a gateway to Hokkaido through New Chitose Airport, further growth is expected in medium- to long-term stays and business travel demand as business needs expand. Against this backdrop, the new hotel will make use of its location in front of JR Chitose Station to provide comfortable spaces and services for both business and leisure travelers. “RIHGA Gran” is the company’s accommodation-focused hotel brand, offering the warm and refined hospitality of RIHGA Royal Hotel, along with large public baths to soothe travel fatigue and high-quality stays featuring interiors themed around local products and Japanese design. Chitose will be the third hotel under the RIHGA Gran brand, following Kyoto and Hiroshima, which is scheduled to open in 2028. Details such as operating information will be announced once finalized. Recently opened and upcoming hotels include RIHGA Royal Resort Okinawa Chatan, opening April 1, 2026, with 209 rooms, located about 35 minutes by car from Naha Airport and positioned as a new landmark in the popular American Village area, featuring rooms of at least 40 square meters and an infinity pool on the top floor; Anchored by RIHGA Osaka Namba, opening April 3, 2026, with 200 rooms, located within walking distance of Shinsekai, Ura-Namba, and the Nipponbashi area; Bouncy by RIHGA Fukuoka Hakata, opening September 1, 2026, with 117 planned rooms, within walking distance of JR Hakata Station and designed around a “HOTEL BAR” theme; Noir by RIHGA Kobe Arima, opening in February 2028 with 93 planned rooms, a Japanese resort offering seasonal nature, local cuisine, hot springs, and warm hospitality; RIHGA Gran Hiroshima, opening in June 2028 with 168 planned rooms, located on Peace Boulevard in an area convenient for business and sightseeing; the tentatively named Okinawa Nakijin New Hotel, opening in July 2028 with 134 planned rooms, located in an area rich in nature and history near Nakijin Castle Ruins and Kouri Island; and RIHGA Gran Chitose, opening in March 2029 with 227 planned rooms, using its location in front of JR Chitose Station, two stops from New Chitose Airport, to offer comfortable spaces and hospitality for a wide range of business and leisure needs. Regarding the new hotel development of RIHGA Royal Hotels, Royal Hotel, Ltd. reorganized its hotel brand categories as one of the strategies to strengthen its foundation for new growth under the “Medium-Term Management Plan 2026” announced in 2024. The company is expanding its portfolio in response to diversifying travel needs and the growth of inbound tourism. As of May 2026, RIHGA Royal Hotels consists of 17 hotels in Japan and overseas, and plans to open five new hotels, including this project, from May 2026 onward.
