Royal Hotel Hiroshima (Moto-machi, Naka-ku, Hiroshima City / General Manager Toshiyuki Muro) is pleased to announce the appointment of Daisuke Matsuo as Executive Chef, effective April 1, 2026.

Born in 1970 in Fukuoka Prefecture, Matsuo joined Royal Hotel Co., Ltd. in 1990, where he learned the fundamentals of cooking in Western restaurants. He then studied the traditional techniques and knowledge of French cuisine at the grand restaurant "Restaurant Chambord," and further honed his skills at the three-Michelin-star restaurant (at the time) "Les Crayères" in the Champagne region of France.

He states that during this overseas training, which marked a turning point in his culinary career, he not only visited local high-end restaurants but also small diners and markets loved by locals, refining his sensibilities through exposure to a variety of dishes and ingredients. In 2016, as Executive Chef of Royal Hotel Kitakyushu, he oversaw the cuisine for the reception party of the G7 Kitakyushu Energy Ministers' Meeting. From 2021, he served as Head of Culinary Operations at Royal Hotel Kyoto, and in 2024, he was appointed Executive Chef of the same hotel. Now, he has been appointed Executive Chef of Royal Hotel Hiroshima.

Upon his appointment, Matsuo expressed his aspirations as follows:

"I want to leverage Hiroshima's rich ingredients and food culture, and while valuing not only 'deliciousness' but also safety, security, sustainability, and coexistence with the region, I aim to bring smiles to people and the community through cuisine."

At Royal Hotel Hiroshima, all cuisine provided within the hotel, including in all 7 directly managed restaurants and banquet halls, will be developed under the direction of Executive Chef Matsuo.
