Born in Nogizaka, Tokyo. Her father was a violinist and concertmaster of the NHK Symphony Orchestra. Japan's first talk show "Tetsuko's Room" is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Her book "Totto-chan: The Little Girl at the Window" achieved a Japanese record of 8 million copies sold and has been translated into more than 30 languages, including English (US, UK), German, Russian, Chinese, and Arabic.
