Toyota Tsusho Corporation (hereinafter: Toyota Tsusho) announces that it has reached the 10-year milestone since the establishment of its Global Code of Conduct & Ethics (abbreviated as COCE), a common set of values for the Group.
Toyota Tsusho has identified "Making safety and compliance the entry point for business and continuing to be an organization trusted by society" as one of its Materiality*1, and has established a basic compliance policy that ensures business execution aligns with the COCE. The COCE, which concretely embodies the behavioral guidelines*2 supporting the corporate philosophy in an easy-to-understand manner, was formulated by pooling the wisdom of Group employees both domestically and internationally. It was established on July 1, 2016, following a resolution by the Board of Directors in April 2016, and was announced to Group companies worldwide, with awareness activities commencing.
To promote and embed the COCE throughout the Group, Toyota Tsusho has built a global network. Together with the global members of this network, the company has continuously implemented various awareness activities, including messages from the President and CEO, distribution of the "COCE Booklet" in multiple languages (23 languages) to all Group officers and employees, pledge activities for COCE (conducted annually for all Group officers and employees), and hierarchical training.
Now, 10 years after the establishment of the COCE, the company is transitioning from the awareness and implementation phase to the embedding and practice phase. By understanding and practicing the COCE as a "compass for the future" that serves as the basis for daily operations and decision-making for every officer and employee worldwide, we will continue to work as a united Group to realize our corporate philosophy of "aiming to be a value-creating company that contributes to building a prosperous society by coexisting and prospering with people, society, and the global environment" and our Mission of "delivering a better Earth to future generations."

2) Background of Establishment
As a global company, it was recognized that there was a need to establish and clearly present common standards for value judgment across all Toyota Tsusho Group companies worldwide to advance business towards realizing the corporate philosophy, with all officers and employees possessing diverse values, cultures, and backgrounds working as one. This led to the initiation of efforts to establish the COCE.
3) Trajectory of 10 Years
Since its establishment and announcement on July 1, 2016, the COCE has been promoted for awareness and implementation as the common set of values for the Toyota Tsusho Group, and is currently transitioning to the embedding and practice phase.
Announcement and Introduction Phase (FY2017~)
The COCE was announced at Group companies worldwide. A COCE promotion global network was established, and awareness activities and pledge activities for COCE compliance were initiated for all Group officers and employees (conducted annually thereafter).
Awareness and Implementation Phase (FY2020~)
Training to learn the COCE was evolved (through card games, group work, quizzes, etc.) via global meetings involving responsible personnel. Initiatives were expanded, including holding COCE events (under the banner of "COCE Days," etc., featuring keynote speeches, various live seminars, and concentrated e-learning sessions).
Embedding and Practice Phase (FY2024~)
Areas for COCE events were expanded, and joint events across regions were promoted. The COCE Booklet, published nearly 10 years ago, was revised and the COCE was re-communicated as a "compass for the future." Opportunities for employees to recognize the COCE as their own were expanded (including messages from the President and CEO, as well as management executives and presidents of Group companies, and company-wide dissemination of dialogue session content).
4) Towards Further Practice
Toyota Tsusho will continue to promote sound and fair corporate activities towards the realization of its corporate philosophy and Mission through activities via the COCE promotion global network.
In addition to Toyota Tsusho itself, various internal events related to the 10th anniversary of the COCE's establishment will be held at each base, communicating the importance of practicing the COCE anew to officers and employees worldwide.
We will further expand opportunities for joint development and implementation of training by global members and dialogue regarding the COCE.
We will disseminate examples of COCE practice throughout the Group so that employees can internalize the COCE in their daily work and decision-making and translate it into action.
Messages from management will be continuously disseminated to convey the importance of practicing the COCE.
