Welcome to TOYO, all new employees of 2026. On behalf of the approximately 7,000 members of the global TOYO Group, I extend my heartfelt welcome to you.
Globally, there is an overwhelming shortage of engineers. This is precisely why Japanese technology, and TOYO's engineering, are highly anticipated worldwide. We, TOYO, are a company whose business is engineering. Our mission, "contributing to the sustainability of the Earth and society," has remained unchanged since our founding in 1961, continues to this day, and will remain so in the future. I sincerely hope that each and every one of you will play an active role in these countries.
On the other hand, the global situation is changing significantly and rapidly.
In such times, what is important is not to fear change. Rather, it is to navigate this change with a sense of "riding the wave."
Today, you have taken your first step as members of society.
Each of you will have dreams. You might want to become a certain kind of person, contribute overseas, or achieve greatness.
Please cherish those aspirations.
Today, I would like to convey three important things to you.
The first is "the ability to understand others."
This is the very essence of leading a team, and what is important are "listening skills" and "questioning skills." To understand what others are thinking, first listen. Then, ask when you don't understand. Respond to those thoughts and utilize them as the strength of the organization. TOYO's work is not an individual sport. Please hone the necessary leadership skills starting now.
The second is "the ability to continue striving."
Whether you can continue to strive is also related to whether you can come to love your job, and find enjoyment and purpose in it. Please be interested in various things and continue to learn. What TOYO aims for is a learning organization. For that, people who continue to strive are necessary.
The third is "sensitivity to current trends."
The world is changing daily – geopolitics, logistics, industrial structures – due to regional conflicts, energy issues, policy shifts in major countries, and the evolution of DX and AI. Accordingly, our work and the skills required of us will also change. Going forward, we will need human resources who can combine multiple areas of knowledge and design business models. The transformation of the era requires the transformation of each individual.
Finally, one more thing. After your training, you will be assigned to various departments. Before that, I want to share a favorite phrase with you.
Bloom where you are planted.
In any environment, in any situation, I want you to do your best where you are, shine with a smile, and bring happiness to those around you.
Last but not least, please take care of your physical and mental health, and enjoy your work.
You will face many challenges and sometimes experience hardship.
Nevertheless, you will always have colleagues in your work. It is a team that overcomes difficulties. You are an important member of that team. I look forward to your fulfilling days and success at TOYO.
