【Namie Town, Fukushima Prefecture】Towards Resumption of Farming!! "FY2026 Tsushima District Rice Paddy Trial Cultivation (Rice Planting)" to be Implemented.

Namie Town will, following last year, implement "Rice Paddy Trial Cultivation (Rice Planting)" in the Tsushima district towards lifting cultivation restrictions, as announced below.

1. Background

The Specific Reconstruction and Regeneration Base Area (Tsushima) within Namie Town is designated as a "farmland preservation and trial cultivation area," making rice shipments currently impossible. To lift the rice cultivation restrictions and resume farming, trial cultivation will be conducted to confirm the safety of the produced rice.

Moving forward, by accumulating tests under various regional environmental conditions such as soil quality and water sources, and through discussions between the community and the administration, if it is determined that "cultivation restrictions can be lifted," a request will be made to the national government to lift the restrictions.

2. About Rice Planting

(1) Date and Time: May 23rd (Saturday) 10:00-12:00 (Carried out in light rain)

(2) Location: Tsushima District, Namie Town, Oaza Shimotsushima, Aza Hara 121 (Refer to separate sheet)

(3) Main Participants: Tsushima Reconstruction Association

(4) Overview: Hand-planting of the "Hitomebore" rice variety.

*The cultivated rice will be plowed back into the field and discarded, except for portions used for testing and sampling.
