The future Ama Town envisions does not aim for special growth or expansion. The town's comprehensive strategy sets forth the following as its "Desired Future":

• That the rich landscapes of Satoyama-Satoumi continue to be passed down.

• That all people, from children to the elderly, feel happiness.

• That grand festivals with portable shrines (mikoshi) are revived in all communities.

These are not only Ama Town's vision for the future but also important values that have served as guiding principles for daily town development.

Various Challenges Exist to Inherit the Dream

In recent years, Ama Town has undertaken new initiatives and challenges in various fields such as industry, education, culture, and administration. These are not aimed at change itself. They are challenges to protect the landscapes of Satoyama-Satoumi, ensure people feel happiness, and ensure the island continues to be a place where festivals thrive.

We change because there are things we want to protect. We challenge because there is a future we want to inherit.
