The Toshima Mirai Cultural Foundation (located in Toshima, Tokyo; Chairperson: Naoto Aiba) is proud to announce that the Tokiwa-so Street Showa Retro Hall (Toshima City Showa History and Culture Memorial Hall) will host a special exhibition titled 'Play in Those Days and Our Time' starting Saturday, April 25.

This exhibition focuses on the games and play styles that children enjoyed primarily during the Showa era. It features analog-style play that differs from the modern Reiwa era, including some activities that required careful handling or following rules to avoid minor risks—a characteristic of play in that period.

On the 1st floor (Multipurpose Room 1), a space inspired by a Showa-era vacant lot will be recreated, while on the 2nd floor (Multipurpose Room 2), a children's room will be reproduced. Visitors can enjoy both indoor and outdoor play experiences. In addition, various event and workshop programs will be held where visitors can experience Showa-era play firsthand.

Whether you spent your childhood in the Showa era or you are a child of today who knows nothing of that time, why not experience the Showa era through the medium of play?
