Too Good To Go Japan K.K. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director: Hiroto Ooka), the Japanese subsidiary of Too Good To Go (Headquarters: Denmark), which operates the world's No.1* food waste reduction app 'Too Good To Go', is pleased to announce its selection for 'Testbed City Shibuya', a pilot project conducted by Shibuya City to leverage startup power for solving social issues. Through this project, Too Good To Go Japan will promote the implementation of a food waste reduction model in Shibuya, where restaurants and retail stores are concentrated. We will further strengthen our collaboration with local stores and the administration to solve the food waste problem in urban areas.
*World's No.1: Based on a survey of user numbers for food waste reduction apps as of October 2025, covering 88 B2C food marketplaces across up to 65 countries (internal research).
Initiatives in 'Testbed City Shibuya' 'Too Good To Go' is a food waste reduction app that connects stores—such as restaurants, cafes, convenience stores, supermarkets, and bakeries—with users who want to purchase surplus food that is still delicious at a great value. In this project, we will enhance the sale of 'Surprise Bags' through the app in partnership with stores in Shibuya. We aim to build a model case for food waste reduction based on data obtained over the three-month pilot period.
Comment from Too Good To Go Representative (Hiroto Ooka, Representative Director, Too Good To Go Japan K.K.) 'I am very honored to be selected for 'Testbed City Shibuya'. Shibuya, where our Japanese base is located, is a city that symbolizes Japan's vitality and diversity, with a high density of world-class restaurants and retail stores visited by many people from home and abroad. In such an urban area with intense human traffic and dense store locations, how to integrate food waste reduction into daily life in an efficient and sustainable way is a very important theme. Together with our local partner stores, I look forward to sharing a future from Shibuya where every single 'delicious choice' creates a big change.'
