Matsue Excel Hotel Tokyu (Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture; General Manager: Fumiyuki Ishitobi) will host the "Matsue Tea Ceremony Culture Afternoon Tea" at its first-floor restaurant, MOSORO, for a total of eight days: April 22–26 and May 20–24, 2026 (excluding April 23 and May 21).
In Matsue City, April 24th is designated as "Tea Ceremony Day," marking the anniversary of the death of Matsudaira Harusato (Lord Fumai), the seventh lord of the Matsue Domain and a renowned tea master. Every 24th of the month is celebrated as a day to engage with tea culture. In honor of this, our hotel has planned an afternoon tea that fuses the tea culture living in Matsue with the unique culinary appeal of our hotel. Guests can enjoy a relaxing tea time featuring sweets centered on spring strawberries, Japanese-style savory dishes prepared by our head chef, and traditional 'jo-namagashi' (fine fresh sweets) from Matsue's long-established confectioneries.
This event, which offers an experience of tea culture, is recommended for locals looking for a relaxing tea time, as well as for tourists visiting Matsue to create lasting memories or for those on a girls' trip.
"Strawberry Catalana" Finished Tableside
The highlight of the sweets is the "Strawberry Catalana." Staff will caramelize the surface with a burner right at your table. This signature dessert offers a live performance experience, combining the crisp texture of caramel, the cool and rich Catalana, and the sweet-and-sour flavor of strawberries.
