'Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu' to Screen at 109 Cinemas IMAX Laser Locations Nationwide Starting May 22

Tokyu Recreation Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President: Tomoo Kimura) will screen 'Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu' starting Friday, May 22, 2026, at 9 of its 109 Cinemas equipped with IMAX nationwide, including the IMAX with Laser/GT Technology at 109 Cinemas Osaka Expocity (inside EXPOCITY, 2-1 Senribanpakukoen, Suita-shi, Osaka).

'Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu' is a "Filmed For IMAX" release. From shooting with IMAX-certified digital cameras through post-production, it was designed specifically to be experienced in IMAX, allowing audiences to see significantly more of the image than on standard screens.

Furthermore, at 109 Cinemas Osaka Expocity's IMAX with Laser/GT Technology, select scenes will be projected in IMAX's exclusive 1.43:1 aspect ratio on a massive screen equivalent to a 6-story building—18 meters high and 26 meters wide—using a 4K dual laser projection system. (Other 109 Cinemas IMAX theaters will screen the entire film in a 1.90:1 aspect ratio.)
