Value ① Sustainable provision of safe and secure mobility
Ⅰ. Pursuit of safe and secure railways
Since the period of high economic growth, railway facilities and equipment have been maintained and developed in line with increasing transportation demand, and now aging is progressing. It is expected that the risk of delays and operational disruptions due to failures of railway facilities and equipment will increase. Therefore, we will carry out large-scale repairs and renewals, striving to maintain and improve the soundness of railway infrastructure necessary for safe and stable train operations. In addition, in preparation for increasingly severe natural disasters such as large earthquakes and heavy rains in recent years, we will strengthen various natural disaster countermeasures, working to minimize damage and shorten recovery times during disasters.
〇 New train car manufacturing, renovation
To replace the "9000 series" and "9020 series" (18 formations, total 90 cars) operating as local trains on the Oimachi Line, five-car "6020 series" trains are being progressively introduced. Currently, nine formations have started commercial operation. This fiscal year, a total of eight formations are scheduled for introduction. In terms of safety, a large-capacity information management system capable of constantly monitoring vehicle equipment is adopted, aiming to prevent vehicle failures and further stabilize operations. Furthermore, the interiors pursue comfort with the installation of air purifiers and high-back seats, and the vehicles are environmentally friendly, achieving noise reduction and reduced power consumption compared to older models.
In addition, we will repair and manufacture new company-owned vehicles that were damaged in the train collision accident that occurred within the Den-en-toshi Line Kajigaya Station premises in October of the previous year.
- Meguro Line, Toyoko Line, Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line vehicles are also undergoing renewal/new manufacturing initiatives as part of this broader plan.
