Tokyu Corporation (hereinafter referred to as Tokyu) and Tokyu Railway Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Tokyu Railway) will release "SHIBUYA TAG back to the 90s - Tagging in Shibuya Back Then -" (hereinafter referred to as the Past Shibuya Map), an original map recreating the area around the Shibuya Station East Exit about 30 years ago (around 1996-1997), as a sequel to "SHIBUYA TAG - Shibuya Tag - " (hereinafter referred to as the Current Shibuya Map), an original map recreating Shibuya in 2025 within the globally popular game "Fortnite".
The Past Shibuya Map is scheduled to be unveiled and offered for early trial at the Tokyu booth at "SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026", to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from April 27 (Mon) to April 29 (Wed/Holiday).
The Past Shibuya Map recreates the area around the Shibuya Station East Exit before the "once-in-a-century" redevelopment began, featuring the former Tokyu Toyoko Line Shibuya Station (undergrounded in 2013), known for its "Kamaboko roof" station building, and the Tokyu Bunka Kaikan (closed in 2003), which was a hub for entertainment and culture.
In particular, the interior of the former Tokyu Toyoko Line Shibuya Station has been recreated with as much fidelity to the original design as possible, and visitors can experience the atmosphere of the time with "recreated announcements" recorded by Tokyu Railway employees who worked as station attendants at Shibuya Station back then.
In the Past Shibuya Map, players can enjoy a game of "Ice Tag" where they become immobilized if touched by the tagger. Players who are tagged transform into stone statues depicted with icons symbolizing the 1990s, such as old-fashioned mobile phones.
With the progression of the large-scale redevelopment described as "once-in-a-century," the number of generations who do not know the former Shibuya Station is increasing, and the inheritance of "town memories" is considered a challenge. This time, we are archiving past landscapes on a digital twin, offering a nostalgic experience for those who remember it and a fresh one for those who don't. By creating an opportunity to enjoy learning about "the path Shibuya has walked," we aim to raise awareness of the urban development initiatives in Shibuya, a key base for Tokyu and Tokyu Railway, among many people. The Past Shibuya Map will continue to be updated after its release.
The production, following the Current Shibuya Map, is in collaboration with tensha.bi Inc., a startup company engaged in original game development utilizing "Fortnite" and Gen Z marketing.
Moving forward, Tokyu and Tokyu Railway will continue to strengthen information dissemination regarding Shibuya's urban development by leveraging the resources of both companies and deepening collaboration with startups.

■Main Highlights of the Past Shibuya Map
(1) Former Tokyu Toyoko Line Shibuya Station
The former Tokyu Toyoko Line Shibuya Station, where station improvement work for increased transport capacity was completed in 1964, was used until it was moved underground in 2013. Its exterior, featuring a series of arched roofs, was affectionately known as the "Kamaboko roof."
In the Past Shibuya Map, the station premises and platforms were recreated based on the as-built drawings remaining at Tokyu Railway. Ticket machines, fare displays, automatic ticket gates, electronic information boards, station name signs, trains, and shops have been reproduced as closely as possible to their state around 1996-1997.
The announcements on the platforms were recorded and recreated by Tokyu Railway employees who worked as station attendants at Shibuya Station at the time, allowing you to enjoy announcements for "Sakuragicho" (the Tokyu Toyoko Line Sakuragicho Station was abolished in 2004 with the opening of the Minatomirai Line of Yokohama Minatomirai Railway), which are different from today's.
(2) Tokyu Bunka Kaikan and the Overpass
The Tokyu Bunka Kaikan, which opened in 1956, housed four cinemas of various sizes, a planetarium, and more, and was a beloved icon of Shibuya Station's East Exit until its closure in 2003 due to redevelopment. Shibuya Hikarie opened on its former site in 2012.
The Past Shibuya Map recreates the symbolic exterior of the Tokyu Bunka Kaikan, topped with a spherical planetarium, and the interior of the overpass built between it and the Tokyu Department Store Toyoko East Building (closed in 2013) to improve pedestrian access between the east and west sides of Shibuya Station.
