Tokyo Metro Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Taito-ku, Tokyo; Representative Director and President: Akihiro Kosaka; hereinafter "Tokyo Metro") will sequentially implement various measures to further improve the working environment, including trial introduction of polo shirt uniforms, introduction of T-shirt workwear, and distribution of beverages to field workers using "Coke ON® Drink Tickets" as heatstroke countermeasures for field workers.
In recent years of intense heat due to rising temperatures, Tokyo Metro has been actively working to create a comfortable working environment, including facilities, to protect employees who support railway operations from heatstroke and other health hazards. In addition to these facility measures, the company will now implement soft measures such as clothing and beverage distribution to strengthen efforts to ensure employee health and create a comfortable workplace, contributing to safe and stable railway transportation.
1. Heatstroke Countermeasures through Clothing
(1) Trial Introduction of Polo Shirt Uniforms for Transportation Staff*
From June 30, 2026 (Tuesday) for the time being, trial introduction of polo shirt uniforms with excellent breathability and quick-drying properties will be implemented for station staff at Yurakucho Line's Shinkiba Station, Tatsumi Station, Toyosu Station, Tsukishima Station, and Shintomicho Station. Two color variations are available: lighter and darker shades, with the company logo designed on the left sleeve. By combining with cooling vests (described below), further heatstroke prevention effects are expected.
*Employees can choose between traditional shirt uniforms or polo shirt uniforms.

(2) Introduction of Fan-equipped Cooling Vests
Since 2024, fan-equipped cooling vests have been introduced for station staff, crew members, and technical field workers. Approximately 8,000 vests have been introduced so far, and in principle one vest per person is distributed to about 6,000 eligible employees, circulating air inside the clothing to suppress body temperature rise and reduce heatstroke risk. Employee surveys have received comments such as "I can work comfortably and coolly, leading to improved concentration," contributing to reduced work burden and improved safety under intense heat.

(3) Introduction of T-shirts for Technical Staff
Since 2024, T-shirt workwear has been introduced primarily for technical field workers. The material used is excellent in breathability and quick-drying, and also considers safety during work with antistatic properties. By combining with cooling vests, the heatstroke prevention effect is improved. Approximately 7,200 T-shirts were trial-introduced by fiscal 2025, and about 88% of employees responded that they "felt the effect as a heatstroke countermeasure" in an employee survey. Based on these results, from fiscal 2026, approximately 8,600 short-sleeve T-shirts will be fully introduced, distributing 2 to 4 per person to about 2,500 eligible employees according to their job characteristics. Additionally, about 3,700 long-sleeve T-shirts will be trial-introduced, distributing 2 to 3 per person to about 1,100 eligible employees to further enhance heatstroke countermeasures.

2. Beverage Distribution to Employees
- Beverage distribution to employees using "Coke ON Drink Tickets*"
From June 15, 2026 (Monday) to September 14, 2026 (Monday), beverage distribution will be implemented using "Coke ON Drink Tickets" via a smartphone app. In this measure, digital tickets for Coke ON will be distributed to eligible employees, allowing them to obtain beverages appropriately from compatible vending machines installed nearby according to their work conditions and physical condition during field work or patrol duties. This will enable frequent hydration and help prevent heatstroke and work-related accidents.
