The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the Tokyo Metropolitan Small and Medium Enterprise Support Center have been implementing the "Equipment Investment Support Project for Breakthrough Business Promotion" since FY2021. This project provides subsidies for a portion of the costs required to introduce machinery and equipment, etc., when small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Tokyo work to improve productivity for the purpose of strengthening competitiveness through "qualitative improvement of products and services" or "expansion of production capacity."

We are pleased to announce that 92 projects have been selected for support in the 10th round (FY2025 2nd round).

Eligible Applicants SMEs, etc., that have a registered head office or branch office in Tokyo as of the base date (or individuals who have filed a business commencement notification in Tokyo and are operating a business) and have been in business for at least two years.

Eligible Industries All industries

Eligible Projects [Project Categories] Must fall under one of the following categories I to V: I. Competitiveness Enhancement - Projects involving the introduction of new machinery and equipment necessary for business development aimed at strengthening competitiveness for further growth. - Projects in the transportation/logistics, construction, and other industries involving the introduction of new machinery and equipment necessary to improve competitiveness and productivity as a countermeasure against labor shortages, etc., caused by the upper limit on overtime work under the Work Style Reform-related laws applied since April 2024 (Work Style Reform Promotion). II. DX Promotion - Projects involving the introduction of new machinery and equipment necessary for business development aimed at creating new products/services or transforming existing businesses through the use of digital technologies such as IoT, AI, and robots. III. Innovation - Projects involving the introduction of new machinery and equipment necessary to foster innovation by engaging in new business activities in industrial fields that contribute to solving urban issues and are expected to see market expansion domestically and internationally. IV. Successor Challenge - Projects involving the introduction of new machinery and equipment necessary for business diversification or addressing new management challenges by a successor, triggered by business succession. V. Upgrade Promotion - Projects involving the introduction of new machinery and equipment necessary to realize competitiveness enhancement and productivity improvement, and to grow into a core entity of the regional economy.

Subsidy Rate and Maximum Subsidy Amount Subsidy rate: 1/2 to 4/5. Maximum subsidy amount: 30 million yen to 200 million yen. *The subsidy rate may be increased if zero-emission requirements or wage increase requirements are met.

Subsidy Period 1 year and 6 months from the first day of the month following the date of the grant decision (March 1, 2026, up to August 31, 2027, at the latest).

Eligible Expenses Costs for the introduction of machinery, equipment, fixtures, and software.

Equipment Installation Location Within Tokyo, or in Kanagawa, Saitama, Chiba, Gunma, Tochigi, Ibaraki, or Yamanashi Prefectures. (*If installed outside of Tokyo, the head office must be located within Tokyo.)
