TOKI AIR Operates Charter Flight to Sado Airport

TOKI AIR Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Niigata City, Niigata Prefecture; President and CEO: Masaki Hasegawa; hereinafter referred to as TOKI AIR), a regional airline based in Niigata, has confirmed with ATR that Sado Airport is the shortest commercial runway in the world for ATR42-600 operations.

Sado Airport, with its extremely challenging conditions of a mere 890 meters in length, faces significant limitations on available aircraft and operational systems due to the geographical constraints unique to remote islands.

We consider the successful operation of this charter flight to be a result of our thorough preparations for safe operations, the establishment of our operational framework, and the selection of aircraft suitable for the specific characteristics of Sado Airport.

Through this operation, we aim to contribute to improved access between Sado and the mainland, fostering new exchanges and creating value. As an airline that grows with the region, TOKI AIR will continue to explore the potential of air networks that are essential to the region and contribute to inter-regional exchange and tourism promotion.

Operating in a runway environment with such significant constraints of 890 meters was made possible by the support of many stakeholders, including Niigata Prefecture, Sado City, related organizations, and the local community, as well as our company's accumulated efforts in preparing for safe operations.

Since our founding, TOKI AIR has made building an air network with Sado one of our important missions.

We hope to use this operation as a catalyst to expand the possibilities for new travel between Sado and the mainland, thereby improving convenience for local residents, increasing the number of visitors, and promoting tourism.
