This special exhibition will feature a collection of famous swords, including National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties, associated with the Toyotomi brothers, offering visitors a chance to connect with the history and culture of the Sengoku period.

A variety of related events will also be held, including a bus tour and a summer festival featuring the "Nagoya Omotenashi Bushotai®" samurai performance group.

### Exhibition of Precious Swords Linked to the Toyotomi Brothers

Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who pushed forward to unify Japan with his exceptional leadership, and his younger brother Hidenaga, who served as his brilliant right-hand man, worked together to end the chaotic Sengoku period. This special exhibition showcases swords connected to the brothers and the many warlords who gathered under them.

Highlights include the Important Cultural Property "Osaka Chogi" and the National Treasure "Uraku Rai Kunimitsu." These two historically significant daggers will be specially displayed, one in each half of the exhibition period.

- **First Half Exhibition: A Dagger Symbolizing the Bond Between Toyotomi Hideyoshi and Maeda Toshiie** *Important Cultural Property* Tanto Mei Bizen Osafune-ju Chogi (Go: Osaka Chogi) First Half: July 11 (Sat) - August 16 (Sun)

This dagger is a work by Chogi of the Osafune school from Bizen Province. One theory suggests its name comes from Hideyoshi gifting it to his vassal and close friend Maeda Toshiie at Osaka Castle. The sword was passed down through the Kaga-Maeda clan.

- **Second Half Exhibition: A National Treasure Tracing the Footsteps of Oda Urakusai** *National Treasure* Tanto Mei Rai Kunimitsu (Meibutsu Uraku Rai Kunimitsu) Second Half: August 18 (Tue) - September 27 (Sun)

This dagger was bestowed upon Oda Urakusai (Oda Nagamasu), the younger brother of Oda Nobunaga, by Toyotomi Hideyori. Urakusai was a master of the tea ceremony. The blade was later passed to Maeda Toshitsune and remained in the Maeda family. Its creator is Rai Kunimitsu, a swordsmith from the late Kamakura period.

- **Sword Linked to Toyotomi Hidenaga** *Special Important Sword* Tachi Mei Ichi (Yoshioka Ichimonji)

This Tachi is associated with Toyotomi Hidenaga. It was brought by Hidenaga's eldest daughter, Kiku-hime, as part of her dowry when she married Mori Hidemoto, and it was subsequently passed down in the Mori family. The creator was a swordsmith from the Yoshioka Ichimonji school of the late Kamakura period.

- **Dagger Owned by Kuwayama Motoharu, a Vassal of Toyotomi Hidenaga** *Important Art Object* Tanto Mumei Meibutsu Kamibe Taima (Kuwayama Taima)

Also known as "Kuwayama Taima" because it was owned by Kuwayama Motoharu, a general who served Toyotomi Hidenaga. It is a prestigious sword listed in the "Kyoho Meibutsu Cho" and was crafted by the Taima school from Yamato Province during the Kamakura period.
