As a popular Rakugo storyteller representing the Rakugo world, he gained attention in 1998 by winning the Grand Prize in the NHK New Entertainment Awards (Rakugo category). After being promoted to Shin'uchi in 2000, he received numerous awards, including the National Engeijo Hanagata Engeikai Grand Prize and the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's New Artist Award (Popular Entertainment category). In 2025, he was awarded the "2024 Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize (Popular Entertainment category)," further recognizing his artistic career and achievements.
Currently, he serves as a standing director of the Rakugo Association and is active in various fields such as television, radio, and stage, in addition to Yose and hall performances. While rooted in tradition, he continues to convey the charm of Rakugo to the present day with his storytelling that lightly incorporates the atmosphere of the times.
